Our shopping to-dos this week are all about #supportlocal, from Singaporean designer Sabrina Goh’s new flagship to Collate The Label’s Pre-Spring collection and local jeweller Carolyn Kan’s limited edition capsule collection with Kapok. By Isabel Ong.
The Singapore brand’s Pre-Spring collection, comprising knitted shift dresses and peplum dresses in sweet pastel hues, just launched in its online boutique on Thursday. Why we love local It girl and founder Velda Tan‘s latest offerings: They’re good for both work and play, and are versatile enough to go well with sneakers or heels. View the full collection at Level 2 TANGS By Tangs Plaza. $179-$219
Officially opened on Thursday, the new 870 sq ft store by homegrown designer Sabrina Goh currently houses her Elohim by Sabrina Goh S/S ’16 collection, other brands like Aka Wayward as well as lifestyle goods, ranging from Karen Walker shades to Ashley & Co’s scented home and bath products. While it’s slightly smaller than its former Orchard Gateway digs, the store’s bright, airy interior and affordable clothing ($79 for a striped dress to $289.90 for a lace midi dress) will provide enough incentive to head down. #02-14 Capitol Piazza
The Uniqlo x Carine Roitfeld S/S ’16 collection – the second between the Japanese label and the French fashion icon – eflects Roitfeld’s own mix of masculine-meets-feminine sartorial style. It’s a showcase of working girl chic, from its croco-embossed PU leather coats to the camouflage-print bombers that you can pair with sexy lace dresses and ruffled knee-length skirts. $14.90-$199.90, available online and exclusively at Ion Orchard (#B2-38/#B3-51-52).
To mark the multi-label store’s 10th anniversary, Kapok has tied up with local jewellery label Carrie K for a pop-up within its National Design Centre space. The capsule collection of leather and gold- or silver-plated bracelets and rings (in rose or yellow gold-plated silver) are inspired by the Peranakan window hooks seen in many shophouses here. Get the bracelet clasps stamped with your initials at an exclusive workshop on Jan 30 hosted by Singaporean jewellery designer Carolyn Kan herself. $198-$318, Kapok, 111 Middle Road
