Who’s behind it

Founded last year by local It girl Velda Tan (above) or @belluspuera to her 100,000-odd social media followers. She’s channelled her chic, classic sense of style into Collate the Label, a brand to look to for work-friendly outfits and sharp off-duty looks.

Why know it

Even before starting Collate the Label, Tan experimented with design through the hugely successful fashion label Love, Bonito that she co-founded. Determined to replicate that same success with a more polished aesthetic, Tan pursued fashion drawing, pattern making and brand management courses at the renowned Central Saint Martins arts college in London before launching her second fashion business.

The brand utilizes plenty of heavy crepe, which gives its design structure and keeps it affordable. Prices range from $109 for an organza overlay blouse to $299 for a mesh jumpsuit.

What to expect in Pre-Fall 2016

Nothing says “femininity” as well as soft pastel hues and pleats, which Collate the Label delves into this season, particularly in its staple piece, the jumpsuit. This time, the jumpsuit comes in a pleated tube top bodice and in a culotte-style with pleated panels on the pants. For more casual occasions, its playsuit, featuring a pleated colour-blocked panel (a recurring detail in this collection) will do just fine. Delivering a dose of saccharine goodness are the organza layered blouses and flowy pleated dresses, which add a sense of ease to the collection.
