Having met on the local party circuit earlier this year, Hanli Hoefer and Kat Crane bring with them an infectious feel-good spirit, whether they’re at one of their favourite clubs in town (Kyo, Refuge or Rakes), or a mutual friend’s home for a round of beer pong.

“The ingredients for a great party are: music that makes people want to dance, whether it’s the latest electronic or Top 100 hits from the early 2000s; a couple of drinks to loosen the mood; and most importantly, people who share the same positive vibe and love to have a laugh”, says Hoefer, a Female Collective member who’s charmed fans across the region as MTV Asia’s bubbly, live wire of a VJ.

Contrasting that down-to-earth approach to living it up are their pop-star glam wardrobe choices. Hoefer likes amping up all-black separates with sexy heels and colourful accessories, though this Christmas, she’ll have on something louder: a head of icy blonde locks. “Taking a cue from platinum blonde style icons like Marilyn Monroe and Gwen Stefani, I’ll be going for more classic makeup to match,” she says. “Think a bold red lip, clean winged cat eye, and fluttery, thick lashes.”

Meanwhile, Crane – an emerging actress who stars in Bang Bang Club, a production by local award-winning TV company Bananamana Films – describes her night-out look as “simple yet sexy”, citing her favourite New Year’s Eve outfit to date. “A crimson red Stella McCartney gown and Yves Saint Laurent peep-toe pumps in a matching hue – it was in 2013, and the most extravagant NYE party I had attended.”
