From American Marcela Gutierrez’s paintings for Another magazine to Australian Kerrie Hess’ work for Lancome, illustrators are having their moment. The one to know here: Teresa Lim aka Teeteeheehee (above). The 24-year-old recently customised three pairs from shoe brand Melissa’s S/S ’15 collection. Here’s the 101 on her:

She graduated from Lasalle College of the Arts in 2013 with a degree in fashion and design textiles. Her latest project “Sew Wanderlust” (above) depicts places she’s travelled to in old-school style embroidery (an article on it even went viral).

Her favourite subjects are people and landscapes, interpreted in her signature whimsical, girlie aesthetic. For her Melissa tie-up, she painted playful doughnuts, watermelons and flowers on a pair of sandals, platforms and pumps (each took two to three hours to complete).

And brands dig working with her – previous tie-ups include a capsule collection with local label Yesah, a workshop on recycling denim with H&M, and a specially commissioned dress for Swarovski.
