It’s been a string of stellar achievements for Youths In Balaclava. The 13-member-strong Singaporean design collective – which started off as a clan of six friends determined to challenge convention – have already found themselves fronting Converse’s international Fall campaign, the subjects of a photo book and most recently, helming their first pop-up store. And the Adrian Joffe-endorsed creatives aren’t even close to done yet.
Their newest proposition is the recently-debuted ‘Lost In Transit’, the latest of their already extensive repertoire of clothing collections (some of which you can still cop on Dover Street Market Singapore’s website). Described by the collective’s Instagram page as a collection that “aims to give strength and courage to us all as a collective Sisyphus”, ‘Lost In Transit’ stays in line with the group’s affinity for exploring politics, society and culture. The result? A multi-apparel line-up of graphic T-shirts and hoodies emblazoned with block-coloured paint silhouettes as well as customised chucks – which has slowly become a YIB trademark of sorts.
That the collective has taken their fresh, non-conformist energy to the most important fashion week of the season almost comes as no surprise. ‘Lost in Transit’ debuted at Paris’ 6 Place Vendome on Sept 29 – in Napoleon’s former apartment nonetheless – and will be ongoing until Oct 3. In the meantime, flip the gallery above for a sneak peek at the collective’s newest merch which will be available at all Dover Street Market stores worldwide in January 2020.
