I was first offered a contract by an agency after a appearing in a school pageant. I decided to take the leap of faith and have been doing it ever since.
2. What’s your most memorable modelling job?
It was definitely my first runway walk, where I had to work with hundreds of local and international models for the Great Singapore Sale Fashion Walk 2019 along Orchard Road. It was an eye-opener and I was proud and excited to be part of it, wearing designs from the Raffles Design institute and BAAPE. It was only after the show that I realised I was part of Singapore’s largest outdoor fashion runway show which made the experience even more surreal.
4. How would you describe your personal style?
I like clothes that are minimalist and comfortable; nothing too flashy.
5. What’s one item of clothing you cannot live without?
My ripped black denim jeans from Dr. Denim. It’s so comfortable and versatile to pair with most clothing I own. I dare say it’s my best buy amongst all my clothing.
6. How do you keep in shape and look good?
I try my best to work out every day – be it a short run or some calisthenics at home. I used to hit the gym a lot but school and work have been rather overwhelming. Okay, maybe I’m just feeling too lazy.
7. What’s something people don’t know about you?
When I was younger, I used to be mildly dyslexic. Even today, when I see a bunch of numbers, it gets very daunting because I’ll mix the numbers up easily. If anybody were to hire me to do their accounts, they’ll be in for a nightmare.

1. What’s your life motto?
Life just comes with whatever it brings so I don’t dwell on it too much
2. How did you begin your career as a model?
It started out with creative shoots that I started out planning and shooting with my friends and putting it up on social media. A local menswear store first approached me to be their model and being someone who loves clothes, I fell in love with the experience right away. I was mainly doing modelling on an ad-hoc basis before signing on to an agency.
3. What’s your most memorable modelling job?
It would probably be the one where a brand flew me over to South Korea for their new collection shoot. It was my first job overseas and it was very fun meeting creatives from elsewhere. Shooting in the forest while in winter was also a perk.
4. How would you describe your personal style?
I don’t think much of it but my friends would describe it as…effortless? I share a wardrobe with my brother so we really just pick up whatever each other left at the top of the wardrobe on a daily basis.
5. How do you keep in shape and look good?
The Covid-19 break gave me quite a lot of time to do home workouts. Other than that, I pretty much drink lots of water and not snack too much.

It would definitely be in the creative and design field since I have a thing for creating. In fact, I’m working as an interior designer at the moment.
7. Who’s the dream designers you wish to work with?
Definitely, Alessandro Michele.

1. What’s your life motto?
My life motto is “be positive and live your life to the fullest”. As simple and cliched as this
motto might be, it has been rather instrumental in my journey as a model. While it takes a lot of courage to be positive about everything, I often find that being positive creates opportunities for my betterment. More often than not, we may be consumed by the negativity around us and this prevents us from enjoying whatever we are doing. However, when we take a step back and start seeing the good in everything, we slowly figure out how to make the situation better and more enjoyable. And of course, when we enjoy the things we do, we are in fact living our life to the fullest.
2. How did you begin your career as a model?
I never once thought of becoming a fashion model when I was younger, as I grew up in a rather conservative family where my parents would prefer that I pursue occupations like being a doctor, businessman, or lawyer.
In the course of pursuing my business degree at a local university, I crossed paths with fashion and modelling which has since been my passion. I remembered vividly that I was on my way to class one day, and there was a booth set up in my school which was scouting for potential campus models for a modelling competition.
Succumbing to the peer pressure, I decided to give it a try and signed up for it. It never really crossed my mind that I would be shortlisted as one of the contestants as I thought I looked like a typical Singaporean, as many would tell me I have a “common-looking” face. After two weeks of intensive training, I managed to emerge as the first runner-up of the competition and was eventually scouted on social media by the director of my current modelling agency. I decided to give this career a try and it has since been my passion.
3. What’s your most memorable modelling job?
My most memorable modelling job would definitely be working with Samsung on an advertorial earlier this year, for their Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. It was unforgettable because it was something different, which required me to bring forth my personal model attitude and facial expressions while showcasing the product on set; unlike other commercials where the focus is more on giving the widest smile.
Apart from that, it was also a heart-warming experience as the production team was very patient as they would sit down with me during my break times to discuss how we can enhance every detail that we were trying to portray. Although the shoot lasted from day to night for two consecutive days, I never once felt exhausted because I was enjoying every moment with the amazing production team.
4. How would you describe your personal style?
I would describe my personal style to be slightly avant-garde with a twist of minimalist.
5. What’s one item of clothing you cannot live without?
An item of clothing that I cannot live without would definitely be hats. I’m a big fan of hats
and often, I find myself leaving the stores with a hat or cap in my shopping bag. Currently, I
own more than ten hats of different colours and styles.
6. What’s on your Spotify Playlist?
My Spotify Playlist consists of a wide array of music genres, ranging from R&B, Pop, Hip-hop
and Ballads. I don’t have a preference as I usually listen to different genres of music based
on my mood for the day. That being said, I do have different playlists set up to match
different moods. For instance, I created my own playlist titled “Chill-Out Brain”, consisting of
only classical pieces, which helps in improving my efficiency when I have to stay focused on
the tasks at hand.
7. What would you pursue as a career if it were not for modelling?
Since I completed a degree in Business, specialising in Banking and Finance and International
trade, I guess I would have ended up working in a bank if it were not for modelling. After all,
I will have to put the skills to good use since I’ve invested in them. As someone who is more
creative, I would most likely be involved in working with partnerships with start-ups rather
than dealing with numbers and figures.
8. Who’s your favourite model?
My favourite model is a Japanese male model named Kohei Takabatake. I often look up to him because he has achieved several milestones despite his young age. At 20 years old, he left his hometown and has appeared on fashion shows of many big brands like Louis Vuitton and he became the male model who has walked the most shows during the Fall/Winter 2018-2019 season. Apart from that, he also has a unique personal style that is able to capture the attention of viewers.

1. What’s your life motto?
Being a better person today than I was yesterday.
2. How did you begin your career as a model?
I had a friend in the fashion scene and he introduced me to a friend of his when he needed a model for a trunk show.
3. How would you describe your personal style?
My style’s more on the casual side but I like to mix it up with some accessories.
4. How do you keep in shape and look good?
I do bodyweight workouts at least three times a week. To add difficulty to it once it gets a bit too easy, I just put a bunch of stuff in my bag, like books and my laptop, and wear it while doing my workout too. On top of this, if I’m going someplace nearby I would generally walk the short distance. Instead of taking the train or bus.
5. What’s on your Spotify Playlist?
Bullet For My Valentine, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Machine Gun Kelly, Juice Wrld, and Lil Peep are some of the artists I listen to most.
6. What would you pursue as a career if it were not for modelling?
Haven’t given it much thought, but I think probably something to do with sports or physiotherapy.
7. What’s something people don’t know about you?
I was a semi-professional football player at 17 before getting injured and entering national service.
8. Who are the dream designers you wish to work with?
I will have to go with Marcelo Burlon or Off-White.

1. What’s your life motto?
Life without passion is a life not lived
2. How did you begin your career as a model?
I was scouted by the head booker for Basic Models when I attended a casting for an advertisement. It was quite funny because when I received the message to attend Basic’s open casting, I made sure to ask again if I was the one they were looking for just in case they made a mistake. I eventually went for the Open Casting and was selected to join Basic Models. Following that, I had to attend Basic Academy’s two-month-long training for their new models and managed to graduate to join the ranks of Basic’s esteemed portfolio.
3. What’s your most memorable modelling job?
I had a shoot with Mirabelle and the shoot location was probably one of the coolest places I’ve been to because we planned to shoot at Queenstown Stadium, however, due to logistical issues we couldn’t. We eventually settled on the rooftop of a building located in Chinatown yet despite the sweltering heat, I got along really well with the other model on set and we’ve been close ever since. I really liked the vibe of the open rooftop as I felt like we were doing something really real and tangible and extremely rustic. An absolute vibe.
4. How would you describe your personal style?
My general style is usually highly laid back and super chill, oftentimes very ’90s and inspired by skateboard culture. The Internet pretty much also defines what I end up wearing because I get very influenced by whatever’s trendy.
5. What’s on your Spotify Playlist?
I’m a huge fan of dream pop and indie pop music. Though, I’ve been really indulging in Cigarettes After Sex recently because their music is nothing short of ethereal. Quintessentially, songs in my playlist would definitely include artists like Sufjan Stevens, Mac Demarco, Beach House, and Joji to name a few.
6. What would you pursue as a career if it were not for modelling?
I would want to be a professor who specialises in either Medieval History or Literature. That’s what I’ve been thinking about recently anyway.
7. What’s something people don’t know about you?
I think not a lot of people know that I’m pretty much crazed for a good film and that I can spend hours analysing films that I like. I’ve only started recently putting these videos up on YouTube for fun.
8. Who’s your favourite model?
Timothee Chalamet for sure. I think I’ve been really inspired and empowered by his charisma and ability to just be so real and down to earth. His look is really unique too and I think that gives me the strength to appreciate and fully embrace the very things that make us individually so special.
Went to the open casting to support a friend of mine only to end up trying it out, only to eventually land a modelling contract for myself.

1. What’s your life motto?
Laugh, love and eat breakfast.
2. How did you begin your career as a model?
I’d say that Tovey (@toveymel) really introduced me to modeling with the shoots that we’ve done. However, being selected by Manfred (@manfred__lu), Marion (@marionmochi) and Izwan (@unrulymisfit) to model for WhyNot? in 2019 was a true career start for me.
3. What’s your most memorable modelling job?
A shoot I did with Tovey in Zouk back in 2019, titled “When Was The Last Time You Had Fun?” where we were dressed as flashy, ’80s disco fanatics.
4. How would you describe your personal style?
Comfortably broke with expensive taste. With a generous sprinkle of punk too
5. What’s on your Spotify Playlist?
Oh wow. Especially in a long bus ride, I can go anywhere from death metal, to PC music, to boom bap, to jazz. I love & appreciate all kinds of music.
6. What would you pursue as a career if it were not for modelling?
I’m also an aspiring artist/producer/musician. And if that fails, I’ll seriously consider being a farmer. A vegetable farmer.
7. What are three interesting facts about you?
The ‘sweat’ tattoo on my neck was done in Thailand by a local artist and he had never written a single English alphabet in his life. So I had to type it out on a 2007 edition of Microsoft Word and that was the stencil. I used to work heavily as a food delivery rider and used only local rental sharing bikes. Especially on some workdays, I’d say that I am more or less prepared for a Tour de France. I’m also a great cook!
8. Who are the dream designers you wish to work with?
Dead or alive? I’d say Zac Clark of FTP and Alexander McQueen.

1. What’s your life motto?
I don’t actually go by a life motto because in different phrases of life, perceptions may change. But I once came across this phrase, “dreams don’t work unless you do”. I think it fits me well for now.
2. How did you begin your career as a model?
I was scouted by a stylist and he encouraged me to try out for a test shoot. Thereafter, I walked for my first fashion show in Singapore.
3. What’s your most memorable modelling job?
Shooting a commercial for Universal Studios Singapore. As an avid fan of Universal Studios, I was stoked to be able to interact with my favourite childhood characters during the shoot like the Minions and Elmo. I was also able to find out more about their job as a mascot and its definitely not easy under Singapore’s sun. Additionally, being picked by brands like Issey Miyake and Hugo Boss for their shows was also an unforgettable experience.
4. What’s one item of clothing you cannot live without?
I cannot live without plain oversized tees because they’re so comfy and they go with any pair of jeans, shorts or trousers.
5. What’s on your Spotify Playlist?
Jay Chou’s old classic tracks for reminiscing and DPR Live for vibes.
6. What would you pursue as a career if it were not for modelling?
Besides modelling, I’m also a badminton coach. Being a competitive player in the past, I realised my full potential and the love for sports. Through being a coach, I am able to share my passion and impart my experience to the younger kids and watch them develop into outstanding sportsmen. Therefore I’ll probably be pursuing that as a career. At the same time, it has always been my dream to open a food stall of my own selling pizzas and drinks.
7. What’s something people don’t know about you?
I’m a homebody. People always assume models to be very sociable and love hanging out. In actual fact, I’m actually the direct opposite – one who’s living in his own bubble.
8. Who are the dream designers you wish to work with?
Sacai’s Chitose Abe, Dior’s Kim Jones, and Virgil Abloh. Being a shoe fanatic myself, I’ve recently been interested in the various collaborations between Nike and these designer brands. This interest led me to watch the designers’ past shows and I truly wish I could be a part of their work whether it’s for the runway or campaign one day.

My friends came across the casting for Blu (now-defunct) and told me to go for it. I wasn’t very confident about my looks but they kept pestering me to give it a shot. Eventually, they came up with a bet that I will get in and accept the offer. Fast forward a few months later, I became part of the agency and now, I owe my friends a pint of beer each.

4. How do you keep in shape and look good?
I run 5 km to 10 km every day and go to the gym once in a while. As for my diet, I follow a 16-hour intermittent fasting regime where I fast for 16 hours and eat during the remaining eight hour time window.
