#1: It’s made backless separates its USP

Founder Elyn Wong decided to make backless pieces a focal point in all her collections since launching the brand 10 years ago because she considers it the most elegant part of the female body.

#2: Its pieces are architecture-inspired

Gravitating towards structure, form and art, Stolen’s designs are filled with reinvented basics, geometric cuts and structured separates that exude elegance and confidence. Its Spring/Summer ’17 collection explores the notion of dichotomy by employing a mix of textures and materials.

#3: It constantly pushes creative boundaries

Stolen’s campaigns are hardly run-of-the-mill; instead, they strive to explore the intersection of art and fashion. As part of its push to collaborate with fellow local creatives under a project titled Alliances, Wong partnered with local photographer Jovian Lim to produce a series of campaign images, which were then printed out and fashioned into sculptural paper artworks by Singapore artist Melvin Ong and modelled by the Female Collective’s Linda Hao.

#4: The brand showed at New York Fashion Week

Stolen showed in a New York Fashion Week fringe event two years ago – dubbed TMRW, the twice-yearly showcase aims to raise the profile of up-and-coming international designers. It’s no mean feat considering the challenges faced by local fashion brands to grow and thrive in a difficult retail climate.

#5: It’s going global

Alongside Max.Tan and Aijek, Stolen is one the three Singaporean brands chosen to be part of the  Fashion Futures 2.0 programme, which was jointly created by Singapore Fashion Week and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to provide opportunities for designers to expand their brand on a global market. At press time, Stolen is stocked in five countries (the United States, Hong Kong, China, Kuwait and Vietnam) and also retails its pieces online.
