For the uninitiated, the United States has ComplexCon — Singapore has Sole Superior. In the last five years, its organisers Jonathan Fong and Dexter Tan have brought us our very own annual sneaker festival — a one day blowout where kids and grown-ups alike converge to buy, sell and trade hype kicks. This year, it’s back bigger than ever at the Pasir Panjang Power Station as Street Superior; spotlighting and whetting Singapore’s growing streetwear appetite alongside its mainstay, sneakers. It’ll also play host to a whopping number of activities — installations, a street art gallery, tattoo parlour and music acts — laid out at the expansive 70, 000 sq ft. location.

Here’s what you should know know going in:

Exclusive drops to look out for

Casio’s 35th anniversary G-SHOCK diamond watches for both men and women (pictured below), plus special pieces in collaboration with artist Toshikazu Nozaka and a re-drop of the brand’s sold out black and gold models.

Sneaker and apparel brand Pony’s collab with Korean designer Yong Bae Seok (also head of design for men’s sneakers at Tod’s) can be pre-ordered and picked up at Street Superior. Get yours here.

Flabslab — known for its witticisms in the form of collectibles — will release its Mis-adventure Time sculptures and knick-knacks at a dedicated pop-up within Street Superior. Browse below.

Not to be missed are the…

Hall Of Flame

At the convention’s Hall Of Flame, view over 200 pairs of hype kicks most wouldn’t dare dream of owning, courtesy of collectors from around Asia. How hype and rare, you ask? Think Nike’s Anaconda AF1 and Louis Vuitton x Kanye West Jaspers.

LE Convenience

A pop-up in style of Singapore’s old school mini marts, the convenience store by Limited Edt will be retailing hot drops such as Adidas’ Dragon Ball Z Prophere and Deerupt, the Yeezy 700 in the latest colourway (mauve), and Adidas x Bathing Ape 3ST to name but a few. They’ll also be unlocking the vault and putting grails on sale; a chance for sneakerheads to cop the rarest kicks in person.

Feast on…

Party organiser .Wav(y)’s sick beats, but also wagyu sliders, carrot cake, takoyaki, donburis, cakes, coffee, and bubble tea by various stalls.

Other cool stuff

Trading Pit

The bedrock of this convention is after all, bringing Singapore’s streetwear and sneaker lovers all together in one place. And when this happens, items are bound to change hands. At the Trading Pit, each individual is entitled to sell or trade up to two pairs of sneakers with other festival-goers. Not up for the heat? Then sit up and pay attention, and perhaps try your hand next year.

One-of-a-kind shoes by local sneaker customiser, Mark Ong

Incorporating Blockchain technology by VeChain — a digital sneaker authenticator operated by smartphone — and together with Mark Ong (you might know him as SBTG), look out for the 15 pairs of sneakers customised by Ong and, equipped with chips that allow them to be digitally authenticated.
