Breton Stripes And '20s-Style Bikinis Anchor The Dioriviera Capsule Collection By Dior

How MGC interprets a Riviera holiday.

French Riviera season is in full force. Hot on the heels of the Cannes Film Festival circuit and Loewe’s latest instalment of its ongoing collaboration with iconic retail hotspot Paula’s is the Dioriviera collection by Dior. Stocked in more than 40 Dior boutiques around the world – including Saint-Tropez, Capri and Portofino – this vacation-ready capsule collection is available exclusively here at the maison’s Ion Orchard boutique.

This permanent range of beach chic essentials takes its cues from the costumes worn by the iconic Ballets Russes – the independent dance company which was an active and prominent part of the Parisian cultural scene between 1909 and 1929 and was known for melding traditional ballet forms with the avant-garde movement.

The Summer Essentials

Which explains why maillots, ’20s-style bikini and Breton tees anchor the looks in this collection. Meanwhile slogans of famous tourist locales like St Tropez, Portofino and Marbella are stamped on T-shirt, woven friendship bracelets and the popular Book tote to drive home the Riviera connection.

But Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri also gave the designs a distinctively eclectic-slash-bohemian vibe with toile de jouy wallpaper print and a whimsical that it dubs the “fairy tale” print. That’s right, these pieces are meant for the beach, but you’d want to wear them out of the water too.
