Talita von Furstenberg (TVF) isn’t quite the household name — yet. But as the eldest granddaughter of legendary designer Diane von Furstenberg, creator of the wrap dress, she’s well-placed to take up the mantle someday. Here, some quick facts on the younger von Furstenberg: she’s currently studying at Georgetown University (and no, it’s not fashion design) and she was anointed as the face and muse of Diane von Furstenberg (DVF).
And the latest with the 19-year-old: a 23-piece capsule collection for the American label, dubbed TVF for DVF, that is equal parts feminine and unfussy. It comprises of easy staples such as cropped blouses and ruffled dresses that come outfitted in a delicate, pastel-hued colour palette. In that sense, you could say that von Furstenberg is continuing her grandmother’s famous legacy of designing womanly pieces that are never too restrictive or difficult to wear — all while making it feel contemporary.
In other words, they’re pretty much perfect for Singapore’s summer 24/7 weather. But plenty of brands do summery staples. What really differentiates and makes the collection truly Diane von Furstenberg is the integration of carefully designed prints — a long-time signature at the brand. They’re subtle but look closely and you’ll distinguish nature-inspired prints such as micro flora or whimsical hearts strewn about. “Prints really tell a story and all my prints are inspired by nature. Whether it be directly with a delicate floral or indirectly with hearts that move like waves or wind across the fabric; it all comes back to nature,” says von Furstenberg.
While there’s no official word yet on whether TVF for DVF will become a permanent addition to the brand, it’s quite a promising start for Talita von Furstenberg.
The collection is available at the Diane von Furstenberg store at Ion Orchard, #03-01.
