A bigger variation of Alexander McQueen’s The Story bag that was first launched for the Spring/Summer 2020 pre-collection, The Tall Story is the new every day bag to store all your belongings. Crafted from smooth calfskin leather, this sophisticated carry-all can be carried in multiple ways – you may want to clutch the brass top-handle or sling it over the shoulder.
The Italian label mixes up heritage and modernity with the latest bucket bag iteration of its reputable Virtus handbag line. Its sturdy leather design is embellished with a glamorous gold-tone Barocco-esque letter V hardware that draws its inspiration from the strong, courageous spirit of the historic Roman god, Virtus.
Recently spotted on Chinese supermodel, Liu Wen, this bag is the epitome of effortless chic meets impeccable craftsmanship. The L-sized shoulder bag is based on the structured Celine 16 top handle bag from 2018; it is now made with softer leather construction and features a practical extra-long shoulder strap measuring 29cm.
The Loewe’s Gate sees a return for Pre-Fall 2020. This time, the roomy top handle bag’s distinct knot leather detail has been released in warmer autumnal hues that will pair wonderfully with plenty of your outfits this season.
The name refers to the grained calf leather that’s become a brand signature and is known to be both sturdy and pliant, making this roomy tote an excellent case for the return of pared-back classics so synonymous with Mrs Prada in the ’90s.
Go big or go home? Guess we know which camp Valentino’s Supervee family of bags – distinguished by its XL golden “V” plaque – belongs to. Among its latest (and handiest) styles: this chic, slim calfskin shopper with elongated shoulder straps.
The maison’s signature shoulder bag that’s christened after its birth year (2019) and ID-ed by its upsized quilting, double “C” clasp and chunky chain straps cements its status as the most youthful and fun in the house. Cue its latest finishes that include this abstract inkjet print of XXL-sized letters spelling out the brand’s name.
If the Antigona was the perfect example of a modern classic, then this tote is its more relaxed sister literally. The architectural lines of the original have been adapted to allow it to be folded over not only on its top corners but also into an oversized clutch – exactly what we all need in an elegant weekender.
Think of this feminine-made-trendy debut as the bag cousin of the brand’s recently launched Viva pumps: a contemporary take on a classic with its clean lines, monochromatic palette and part chain, part leather strap.
Here’s some trivia: This framed shopper tote is inspired by an archival ’80s design called the Michelle that came swathed in the label’s signature checks. The 2020 “remake” ditches the pattern for a more discreet yet equally cool mix of canvas and leather, then ups the utilitarian edge with a large, logo-stamped front pocket from which it gets its name.
The finishes on this recently expanded collection of bags include the brand’s GG Supreme motif stamped with irreverent phrases such as “Orgasmique” and a funky purple and red polka-dot print. What even the most pragmatic of shoppers would appreciate: its range of structured yet roomy, weekend getaway-friendly styles that include bowlers, backpacks and even luggage, all anchored by equestrian-inspired hardware from which the line gets its name.
