A sawed-off bathroom. A bronze table that fell right from the ceiling. A table full of chinaware tipping off the wall. These are just some of the weird and wonderful scenes that would greet anyone who attends the “Through The Walls” exhibition, the first-of-its-kind-in-the-world exhibition by Hermes at its Orchard Road flagship which started on Oct 7.
And in case you have not caught it, the event which wraps up this Sunday is a multi-sensory showcase (cue the sounds that fill up the exhibition) of the French maison’s universe in creating some of the wittiest and beautifully designed objects for the home. One person who was lucky enough to catch a preview of the exhibition was Bagaholicboy, a.ka. our October issue’s guest creative director. We posed the self-professed Hermes-phile and interior design junkie with a challenge: What would he do if he was tasked at being an Hermes visual merchandiser-slash-exhibition curator?
As this video shows, the man enjoys both statement and witty designs when it comes to decorating the living space. Think a ginormous pickup sticks set in sycamore for a games night and lacquered wood platters from Vietnam for dinner (“Because that’s where the best lacquer come from”).
