“The temperatures rose as the sun came out of hiding, just in time to shine down on London Fashion Week — Very timely indeed, seeing how NYFW was plagued by a blizzard.”
“Roberta Einer encapsulated her maximalist vision of a Mediterranean winter in the form of ’40s cut dresses, au naturel makeup looks of glossy lips and curly hair and embellished everything (on leather gloves, socks, dresses and even the yoke of a wool coat). Inspired by Portuguese poster art as well as the study of moths, dragonflies and butterflies, the Estonian-born, London-based designer recreated these visuals in the form of illustrations on her trademark bomber jackets – a combination of awkward meets quirky.”
“Model off duty: Spotted Alanna Arrington fresh from the Chalayan F/W ‘17 show.”
“Stopped for a caffeine refuel and breakfast after the early morning Chalayan show at none other than The Breakfast Club, Angel.”
“Fashion DNA: Pakistan is a mentorship programme by the British Fashion Council. The show was an explosion of colours and embellishments that featured signature Pakistani elements. It made me so happy to see the culture being represented during London Fashion Week.”
“The Versus show space was transformed into an arena with the audience facing a light installation that mimicked cages as the models walked the runway.”
“Who else but Gigi Hadid to open the Versus show, right? Couldn’t believe how close I was to her!”
“Adwoa Aboah (right) made her rounds through all the biggest shows this LFW. And don’t you just love the branding details on the bag straps, chokers and pipings?”
“The makeup looks for Versus this season — bold hues of neon pink, blue and red for the eyes and the ultimate tousled hair. Perfect for a girl’s night out.”
“Left the house feeling like this outfit was an odd colour combination, but little did I know that the Mulberry show provided confirmation that I’m on trend this season! Plus points for the ruffled shirt because Burberry said so.”
“Best invitation award goes to Mulberry, whose invite came tucked inside a leather wallet with a beautifully embroidered squirrel. And I thought last year’s invite was outstanding…”
“Favourite jewel-toned colour combination for Mulberry’s essentially british collection — bravo, Johnny Coca!”
“Lace and crochet in constrasting colours lent a “sense of the hand” with its reference to age-old English crafts.”
“A must-try colour combination this month.”
“Crystal leaves embellished the brand’s signature item — beautifully crafted leather bags — like eighteenth-century tiaras.”
“At Burberry, the brand documented the process of this season’s collection in samples, polaroids and fabric swatches. Key details like ruffles and lace anchored its ready-to-wear collection, inspired by renowned sculptor Henry Moore.”
“One of my favourite combination for lazy dressers like me at the Topshop Unique show: Hoodies with oversized sleeves and an embellished feminine skirt.”
“Never knew how stylish a pair of bright orange cargo pants could be, when paired with a floral sequinned jumper.”
“When the first show of the day is at 9am, you put on the first thing you see in your wardrobe and hope for the best!”
“Some of the streetstyle snaps I shot outside the shows during London Fashion Week.”
“If you’ve been to an Anya Hindmarch show, you’ll know that her sets are out of this world, and this year, the setting resembled a rocky terrain. Vetr, as written in the show notes, translates to “winter” in old Norse and was the key inspiration behind the collection, which explored the romanticised notions in contrast to darker motifs in Nordic folklore.”
