More often that not, something long, flowy and white would be filed under resort holiday territory (all right, and bridal too). In short: It’s made for really specific occasions. But when almost every fashion brand slots in a white summery frock somewhere in the mix, that piece turns into a serious proposition for day wear.
For the French brands, the folksy vibe is spot on. At See by Chloe, there is a nod to Joni Mitchell with a flowy white number that comes complete with vintage-y floral prints and tassels. Meanwhile, Ba&sh puts a retro spin on the trend with its delicate crochet column dress.
Suncoo, another French label debuting at Robinsons Jem this season, aces the Saint-Tropez vibe with a rope lace-up detail on a kaftan dress that’s paired with a cotton-blend kimono jacket. Elizabeth and James takes a pared down and art-school cool approach to styling. Its frothy white maxi chiffon dresses are teamed with a turtleneck top, sculptural metal jewellery and white sneakers.
