In need of something for those sore muscles or just to pamper yourself? Splurge at these Singapore spas with luxurious treatments and facilities. By Stacey Pamela Chia.
With facilities that are just as much of a highlight as the treatments themselves, it’s no wonder that the Remede Spa has been voted one of the best spas in the world by Conde Nast Traveler. Guests have access to the cedar wood Finnish saunas, eucalyptus-scented steam chambers and ice fountains to immerse themselves in a hot and cold therapy that helps to promote good immune and circulatory systems.
The ultimate luxury? The Remede Journey ($725), a half-day spa ritual which includes six pampering treatments – body scrub, body wrap, massage, facial, hand spa ritual and foot spa ritual – that will leave you off the hook for at least five hours. Also included: A light three-course meal at LaBrezza, the hotel’s Italian restaurant. Another signature treat, emt, the warm jade stone massage ($290), uses heated and cooled jade stones to deliver a healing and rejuvenating deep tissue massage. 9am-12am daily, tel: 6506-6896
Get away from the hustle and bustle with the Island Escape ($650) at So Spa. This five-hour “journey” to bliss starts off with a private bath and tropical body scrub, followed by a body wrap, scalp massage and massage of your choice. Choose from classic deep-tissue massages, as well as those to improve blood circulation for spirit lifting. The package also comes with a customised facial and ends off with a healthy lunch.
If you can’t spare five hours’ worth of pampering, head over to the mud pool, which you can get complimentary access to with any hour-long treatment. It is said that the high mineral content from the mud has a purifying effect on the skin. 10am-9pm daily, tel: 6708-8358
Designed with understated elegance in mind, The Fullerton Spa debuted this August and only houses five single suites and two couple suites, so you can expect almost absolute privacy during your time there.
For a seriously therapeutic experience, try the 120-minute Sleep Deeply treatment ($320), which uses neuromuscular and Swedish massage techniques to help calm an overactive mind. The therapeutic essential oils used in the treatments here are from from UK-based company Aromatherapy Associates, a brand only found at the world’s most luxurious spas. 10am-10pm daily, tel: 6877-8182
Relax and rejuvenate while surrounded by lush greenery on ESPA’s 107,000 sq ft estate, which offers a suite of facilities including an outdoor plunge pool, steam rooms and Japanese-inspired onsen pool. What is truly unique is how their sauna offers a calming view of the spa surroundings, instead from being in an enclosed space.
Our recommendation: the 120-minute Ultimate Hammam Ritual treatment ($400), a traditional Turkish bath experience held in an airy chamber with marbled surfaces. The treatment also comes with a personalised massage. You can even get a quick shut-eye at one of the 18 cosy sleep pods available. 9am-10pm daily, tel: 6577-8880
