#1: Over-exfoliating skin to get rid of blackheads.

Excess scrubbing can actually irritate skin. Blackheads are caused by clogged pores, so using skincare that dissolve or control sebum production would be more helpful.

#2: Asking your shampooist to scratch your scalp with his/her nails when he/she washes your hair.

It might feel “shiok”, but a scratched scalp is a damaged one, and equals weaker scalp and hair in the long term.

#3: Skipping sunscreen because your day moisturiser has SPF.

You only get a fraction of the protection from a moisturiser and the level is never high enough. So do complete your skincare routine with a sunblock.

#4: Getting too aggressive on your zits.

Don’t bombard them with every pimple buster you have, and don’t empty the whole tube/bottle on them – in one go. Yes, you want to wipe them off your face, but that takes time and patience. A small dab of product twice a day is more than sufficient.

#5: Leaving your nail polish on for more than a week.

You should only keep your nail polish on for three days at a time, and let it rest for a day after. You don’t leave your makeup on for days, so in the same way, your polish should be changed regularly as well. Leaving it on for too long can dry and weaken nails.
