Forget the commercial (read: uncool) tag that can come with a fashion fragrance. These days, more brands are making theirs more complex, more artisanal-smelling and, in turn, more desirable. By Moh Shuying.
The female counterpart to the brand’s Uomo fragrance, which debuted in 2014, this smooth chypre-floral scent retains the rich leather base of its male predecessor, but is sweetened with Italian bergamot, Bulgarian rose, iris absolute, patchouli and vanilla accords.
A lighter, more delicate variation of the brand’s signature EDP, this has a refreshing mix of magnolia, rose and gardenia, and a subtle hint of lemon. Cotton flower and downy musk add a clean, soft feel meant to recall clean linen in a field of flowers.
Warm notes of sandalwood, Tahitian vanilla and grey amber accords juxtaposed with delicate Casablanca lily and ylang-ylang make this intense yet gentle at the same time.

Inspired by Brazil’s beaches, oceans and jungles, this exotic fruity-floral scent opens with passion fruit, lime and curacao accord, before mellowing into heart notes of passion flower and gardenia. Base notes like vetiver and cocoa lend hints of wood.
Aptly described by the brand as a “tasty floriental”, this uniquely textured fragrance boasts both gourmand and floral notes.
To open, sweet orange essence and pear sorbet accord; at its heart, lush neroli essence and jasmine; and to end, yummy vanilla and cocoa.
The latest variation from the popular For Her franchise is a deeper, more intense incarnation of the original musky scent. The signature musk heart remains, but is now reimagined with rich, deep jasmine absolute, amber and sandalwood.
Typical of the surrealist label, the Replica line is supposed to evoke familiar scents and particular moments. The latest is meant to conjure up a morning by the fireplace in ’70s Chamonix (the ski resort that hosted the first Winter Olympics) and starts off frosty, before developing into a warm, comforting mix of chestnuts and smoky wood.
An adapted version first appeared in Female’s January issue, out on newsstand now.
