by Kayce Teo  /   July 19, 2019

When you talk about game-changing innovations in the beauty industry, the cushion foundation is sure to make an appearance. These compacts are mess-free and portable, and make touch-ups super convenient. Plus, they’ve become such an essential that you’ll be hard-pressed to find a beauty brand that doesn’t carry a cushion foundation these days; some brands even have a range with different finishes to suit your preferences. While us beauty insiders have a few that we swear by, we are still constantly on the lookout out for new ones to add to our beauty shelf. Here are seven of the latest ones we have tried, or are looking to try:

7 New Cushion Foundations To Add To Your Beauty Stash
Dior Forever Couture Perfect Cushion, $92, Dior (from Aug 12, 2019)

Infused with skin-loving ingredients such as the rose fruit extract which helps combat external aggressors and minimise the appearance of pores, this foundation also has lightweight oils that are said to help keep your skin hydrated for up to 24 hours. With a blend of polymers that cocoons the skin, the formula stays colour-true for the entire day too. Light-reflecting particles help give a matte but luminous finish, for a more youthful-looking complexion

VDIVOV Double Stay Cushion SPF50+ PA+++, $44, The Face Shop

The formula for this cushion foundation combines two types of technologies – Double-Cover System that utilises two different sizes of powder particles for better coverage, and Double-Fitting System that improves the adherence of the foundation while keeping it lightweight. This means you get longer-lasting and more seamless coverage with a semi-matte and natural finish, which is what everyone’s looking for in a foundation, right? And in case you’re wondering, VDIVOV is a new professional makeup brand by beauty giant LG Household & Health Care that just made its debut in Singapore. The brand offers a variety of makeup products ranging from lipsticks, base makeup to eyeliners and mascaras to help you create any look you want, from natural to bold.

Huxley Cover Cushion; Own Attitude SPF24 PA++, $60, Huxley

Korean brand Huxley’s new cushion foundation is perfect for Singapore’s hot and humid weather. Even though it has a matte finish, it keeps skin moisturised with the brand’s signature ingredient, the prickly pear seed oil. The formula is also lightweight and has cactus water to soothe dry and sensitive skin.

Nars Natural Radiant Longwear Cushion Foundation, $56 for a refill and $20 for the empty compact case, Tangs & Robinsons
image

This cushion foundation provides full coverage for up to 16 hours without oxidising. It also has a blend of ingredients that helps shield skin from urban pollutants while preventing dark spots and dullness, polymers that help keep skin moisturised and radiant-looking, and a mix of fruit extracts to help smooth out skin texture.

Jung Saem Mool Cushion-cealer, $76, Escentials
image

From one of South Korea’s top makeup artist Jung Saem Mool is this hybrid cushion foundation that includes a concealer for days when you need higher coverage. What’s great about this is the blending palette (see that skin-like textured surface?) that lets you mix the foundation and concealer, or simply tap off excess product so your makeup application is seamless. This cushion foundation is also formulated with a Pro Reflex Oil technology to give your complexion that K-approved dewy, youthful (not oily) glow.

Guerlain Meteorites Glow Pearls Cushion, $80, Sephora
image

One of Guerlain’s most popular ranges is its Meteorites collection – you know, the products with the colourful, pastel-hued pearls that you use a makeup brush to swirl around its container and dust on your face to illuminate your complexion. Now, the brand has reinvented the iconic pearls in the form of a tone-up cushion base to (again) give skin that fresh glow. This Meteorites Glow Pearls Cushion is technically a colour-correcting primer that you use before or after your foundation (if you really want to split hairs) to improve your skin radiance, but we think that on days when you want to skip the foundation and let your skin breathe, this works perfectly to brighten up your complexion.

Bio-essence Sakura CC Cushion Pact, $32.90
image

Infused with the brand’s Bio Energy Complex, this helps keep skin plump and hydrated. Japanese sakura extract brightens skin to impart a youthful radiance to skin. The lightweight formula and natural, dewy finish is great if you’re in an air-conditioned room and if your skin tends to feel dry by mid-day.
