It’s true that certain fragrances are better suited to different seasons and times of the day. Heavier scents work best at night or in winter, and fresh scents are perfect for daytime in spring and summer. In Singapore, it’s pretty much hot and humid all year around, and while some of us still enjoy more musky woody scents, we’ve got to admit that the heat as of late has us longing for scents that are a little more on the cool and refreshing end of the spectrum.

Imagine a mojito-inspired fragrance, and you’ve got the 2016 edition of CK One Summer, which is shot through with hints of guava and coconut beneath the lime and mojito notes.
Byredo is one of my favourite fragrance brands of the moment (gorgeous Swedish minimalist packaging), and I love that all the scents are unisex. This one in particular is the supposed embodiment of an international fruit basket, perfect for fruit-lovers. Prominent notes include fig, blackcurrant, and red apple.
Available exclusively at Escentials Paragon and Escentials Tangs at Tangs Plaza.
One of the two newest spinoffs of the Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gioia, the Acqua di Gioia encapsulates an unexpected waft of sea spray, with woody-citrus notes of mandarin-neroli, peony, and patchouli.
A great fresh everyday scent, this EDT has prominent notes of Sicilian lemon, lily of the valley, and bergamot, with light musky woodsy notes making up the base.
Available exclusively at Escentials Paragon and Escentials Tangs at Tangs Plaza.
An oldie-but-goodie, this one’s a personal favourite. Fresh hints of lime and apple alongside notes of cedar will transport you to the middle of the Mediterranean (right next to David Gandy).

This zesty scent, headlined by notes of orange blossom and bitter orange, is meant to capture the heady summer spirit in the south of France.

Like a ice-cool mug of iced tea on a hot day, this “green” and zesty fragrance has notes of Mauritian black tea, verbena and grapefruit.

If the name itself doesn’t give you an idea of the mood this fragrance evokes, the prominent notes of pineapple, lychee, peach and rose might paint a more accurate picture.
