The Acne Cleansers You Need To Prevent Breakouts

by MOH SHUYING   /   March 29, 2018

If someone tells you that you’ll stop breaking out after your teens, don’t believe them. While it might be true that puberty and hormonal changes can lead to the appearance of pesky pimples, they are definitely not the only cause. So if you’re in your 20s and 30s (and even 40s) but still get the occasional breakout, don’t worry, you’re not alone. And while pimple creams and treatments do help, we are of the belief that prevention is always better than the cure. So if you suffer from breakouts and want to nip the problem in the bud, check out these cleansers that help to prevent pimples from even occurring. We’ve tested them all and found them really effective.

The Acne Cleansers You Need To Prevent Breakouts
#1: DrGL Cleanser Acne, $78

This is one of the best acne cleansers we’ve ever used. It has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties that treat acne-prone areas and regulate sebum production while retaining moisture for the skin and even the scalp. It is made with almond extracts that soothe redness and fight acne-causing bacteria. Best thing about it, it can also be used on your body and hair.

#2: SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Cleanser Gel, $49

Designed for ageing skin that is prone to breakouts, this combines potent cleansing agents with exfoliating ingredients like lipohydrxyl acid, glycolic acid and salicylic acids to deeply cleanse, remove excess oil and decongests pores. It also helps to refine skin texture and reduce the appearance of acne while still hydrating skin.

#3: The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 Scrub, $29.90

This is made with 100 per cent Community Trade organic tea tree oil to help prevent breakouts. The multi-tasking cleanser also has foaming kaolin clay and volcanic minerals to tackle clogged pores, blackheads and shine to give you a matte, refined and smooth complexion.

#4: Elizabeth Arden Superstart Probiotic Cleanser – Whip to Clay, $48

This uses probiotics to cleanse skin and help support its natural defenses for a radiant, healthy look. This whipped mousse cleanser transforms into a mineral-rich clay to remove dirt, impurities and makeup without stripping, drying, or leaving an oily residue while also supporting skin’s natural hydration. With water, it foams into a soft lather, leaving skin feeling soft, smooth and primed for the next step in your skincare regimen.

#5: Mamonde AC Balance Mild Foam, $14

This helps to balance and purify your complexion and leave it looking and feeling fresh. It has salicylic acid extracted from wintergreen, which gently and effectively removes dead skin cells and unclogs pores, as well as palm oil to clear away excess sebum and impurities to give skin a soft, velvety feel.
