Beauty Writer Sofia Kim's Favourite Products For The Month Of September
#1: Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge in 851 Ultra Shock, $50
image

This has officially become my go-to party lipstick. It’s so creamy, doesn’t bleed and gives awesome colour payoff (I especially love this deep berry colour). It supposedly works exactly like how a tattoo would and offers deep hydration. It feels super comfortable, lightweight and lasts for up to 12 hours. I’m in love.

#2: Nars Singapore Quad Eyeshadow, $80
image

Whenever I’m in a rush in the morning, I’ll always reach out for this palette. The colours work and blend really well together and I love using all the shades for my eyelids. Each shadow is also made with a new, innovative formula that suspends the powders in a liquid binding system to give you a more intense colour payoff with just a single swipe.

#3: Shiseido Minimalist Whipped Powder Blush in Sonoya, $48
image

I love how I only need the tiniest amount of product to get intense colour payoff. While some prefer using a sponge or their fingers, I simply apply it with my brush, dab the excess on my hand and pat it gently onto my cheeks. Thanks to an Air Fusion Technology, this blends smoothly and turns into an ultra-thin, weightless powder with a soft matte finish that actually lasts.

#4: Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara, $46, Sephora
image

Mascaras are key in my makeup routine and this is one that I’ve been using on rotation. Its 4DAmplifier brush gives volume, length and definition to lashes. The denser bristles saturate lashes from root-to-tip while the shorter bristles coat the bottom lashes evenly without any clumps.

#5: Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation, $56
image

When it comes to foundations, I prefer one that is longlasting and gives full coverage but feels lightweight — and this Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation is one that I’ve currently been loving. Each shade was created to match both your skin tone and undertone, and even comes with an oil-controlling 24-hour wear to give a matte finish.

#6: Benefit Brow Contour, $57
image

Besides its nifty packaging (it works like a retractable pen too), I really like how the formula stays put throughout the day and is slightly waxing to keep my brows in place.

#7: Cle de Peau Beaute Lip Glorifier, $62
image

What I really love about this multi-tasking lippie is how it helps prep and prime my puckers for lipstick application. It plumps it up, fades away any imperfections (i.e: lines) and imparts a rosy pink sheen for a healthy-looking appearance. Besides that, it is formulated with shea butter, safflower and argan oil to hydrate dry lips.

#8: Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour, $75
image

Picking out a moisturiser that best suits your needs and wants is crucial. Since I have combination skin, I prefer using a gel-based moisturiser but the problem with some of them? They don’t feel hydrating enough but this Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour is one that I highly recommend (and have been using the entire month – I’m close to finishing it already).  It features an exclusive Auto-Replenishing Technology that instantly boosts skin’s hydration while helping skin activate its own internal water source to deliver non-stop skin-plumping hydration. It also strengthens skin’s moisture barrier and improves the look of fine lines, flakiness and tightness from dehydration. Bonus: it can even be used as an overnight sleeping mask.

#9: L'Occitane Immortelle Reset Huile-En-Serum, $89
image

Stress is a constant issue we are faced with and when that happens, our skin condition will start to deteriorate. This oil-in-serum helps target stressed complexions and even claims to help relax your overall body thanks to a trio of powerful ingredients. Its star ingredient, the brand’s antioxidant-rich Immortelle Essential Oil reactivates skin by boosting microcirculation. Acmella oleacera extract then reduces tension and lines caused by fatigue and marjoram extract reawakens the skin. Although it contains oil capsules that are activated through heat from your skin, it does not feel greasy at all and instead, is fast-absorbing and lightweight.

#10: Bleu De Chanel Parfum, $217
image

I prefer scents that are fresh and clean so even though this is a men’s perfume, I really love it. First launched in 2010 as an Eau de Toilette and in 2014 as an Eau de Parfum, the reformulated version features different proportions of wood and citrus than its two previous interpretations. The result: an aromatic, slightly woody and complex fragrance.
