Beauty Writer Sofia Kim's Favourite Products For The Month Of February
#1: Sulwhasoo Bloomstay Vitalizing Serum, $188
image

Powered by the brand’s Plum Blossom extract and a blend of five germinated fruits and seeds, this honey-textured serum (trust me, it does not feel sticky and absorbs real quick into the skin) boost skin’s defense mechanism, strengthen its resilience and facilitate skin regeneration for stronger skin cells and a healthier-looking complexion. Yuja (a citrus fruit) and rosa multiflora thunberg then help recharge and regenerate skin. Bonus: its sweet scent.

#2: Cle de Peau Beaute Essential Refining Essence, $130
image

While it may be known as an essence thanks to its water-like texture, the brand parks it under the “serum” category as this gives a morehttps://www.femalemag.com.sg/beauty/hyaluronic-acid-skincare-hydration-dior-vichy/ targeted approach, just like a serum. The renovated formula now comes with a Surface Refining Complex EX, which works together with phytosterol derivatives to visibly improve rough skin texture by dissolving and removing harmful and persistent impurities that cling to dead skin cell fragments within pores. It also releases inflammation-inducing components that causes clogging and roughness while preventing excess sebum production, which can cause a cycle of congestion. An Illuminating Complex made with platinum golden silk essence, Japanese pearl-derived components and theanine, is infused to hydrate and boost skin’s radiance for a luminous and translucent effect.

#3: Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm, $36

I really love how this envelops my puckers and feels comfortable (read: not sticky) and comforting.  Blue lotus wax leaves a nourishing film on the lips, leaving them supple for hours. Cocoa extract then stimulates the production of hyaluronic acid and improves the overall hydration of lips. Protected from excessive evaporation of moisture by ceramides, my puckers always look plumper, smoother and feel softer post-application.

#4: Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel, price unavailable, Sephora
image

I really enjoy using this two-step daily peel treatment pads as it is really fuss-free and is not too harsh or strong on my skin as well (do note that my skin is pretty young so I am always careful when using such treatments). The first pre-soaked pad is made up of five different acids to slough away dead skin cells while the second step treats signs of ageing while neutralising the former.

#5: 111Skin 3 Phase Anti Blemish Booster, $170
image

I have acne-prone skin and this treatment has really helped calm any flare-ups without breaking me out or irritating my complexion. Willow bark extract controls the skin’s sebum secretion, heals and refines the skin while anti-bacterial colloidal sulfur targets acne-causing bacteria, reducing inflammation.

#6: Supergoop! Superscreen Daily Moisturizer SPF 40 PA+++, $55, Sephora
image

In the morning, I prefer using multi-purpose skincare products as I am constantly in a rush. This moisturiser is equipped with SPF to protect my skin from the damaging skin effects of UV rays and also contains a naturally-occurring combination of antioxidants and skin repair actives to protect skin from blue light and other environmental aggressors. And since I have combination skin, I really like how this is oil-free so it won’t clog my pores.

#7: Urban Decay Naked Reloaded, $72
image

The newly launched Naked Reloaded eyeshadow palette has quickly become a go-to thanks to its wearable selection of colours and blendable formulas. It has a good mix of warm mattes, wearable coppers and browns, as well as rose gold shimmers to create a variety of eye makeup looks for both day and night time.

#8: YSL Beaute Rouge Pur Couture in No.22, $54
image

Besides the rich, creamy and pigmented formula (which does not settle into lines or feel heavy on puckers), I am in love with this deep burgundy shade. I apply it in the middle of my lips for that “just bitten” look and it has been my go-to night out party makeup look.

#9: Amos Professional The Green Tea Enhancing Shampoo, $51
image

If you have an oily scalp like me, you might want to try out this shampoo. A little goes a long way with this and I love the slight green tea scent that is not too pungent. It also helps to prevent hair loss and strengthens the hair right from the roots thanks to a unique combination of natural extracts.

#10: Dior Sauvage Eau de Parfum, $175
image

If you are an avid reader of our magazine, then you would have probably realised that I prefer men’s fragrances — and this has been on heavy rotation. It is fresh, sporty and masculine all in one thanks to Calabrian bergamot and notes of ambroxan and vanilla.
