Foundations will always be a staple in my makeup routine (though there are times when I opt for tinted moisturisers and sunscreens instead to let my skin breathe). Being constantly exposed to the new launches and experimenting with a wide array of different types of foundations, it has allowed me to truly pick out the ones I enjoy using. And naturally, my demands and expectations of foundations have shifted as beauty brands continue to reiterate and innovate.
I personally choose my foundation based on how my day will go. If I were to be out the entire day for more than 12 hours, I always opt for foundations that last and offer good coverage. These two factors take precedence as I am not one to constantly reapply through out the day (the only thing I do is blot). And since I have combination skin, my T-zone gets really oily by midday, so choosing a long-wearing foundation is a definite must. Additionally, I prefer one that feels lightweight on my skin so it does not look and feel heavy. Lastly, with foundation on my skin for prolonged periods of time, I also prefer a formulation with skin-loving ingredients, so my complexion will not be compromised.
If I’m just heading out for a quick lunch or errand run, I prefer something that is sheerer and more natural-looking. If I do feel that I need more coverage, layering concealer beneath it does the trick.
