Inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s love of ornaments, Chanel’s Global Creative Makeup and Color Designer Lucia Pica fashions up the brand’s Holiday 2019 Collection – Les Ornements de Chanel. “I wanted to express the idea of richness that particularly fits with the festive time of year — but a mastered and modern richness,” explains Lucia Pica. And of course, the holidays won’t be the same without some shine. Our pick for the perfect festive glow? This limited-edition pearlescent highlighter in a satiny peach colour that’s embossed with the likeness of a vintage Chanel button. A tip from Pica herself? Use a brush to diffuse the powder and create an iridescent halo of light around the eyes either before or after eyeshadow application for a fresh approach to highlighting.
Of course, a holiday collection wouldn’t be complete without the iconic Rouge Allure. This time, the timeless bestseller is revamped in six new shades and suspended in a gold-edged limited-edition packaging. This intense muted raspberry is our pick, simply because it will flatter all skin tones and give you a kissable, juicy pout.
Said to be like a magnet for your makeup, this new primer from IT Cosmetics is an oil-free, makeup-gripping base that hydrates the skin while extending the wear of makeup – thanks to the All Day Grip Technology that’s in it. There’s a new way to take a fancy bath, according to Dior. Its new J’adore Divine Bath ritual celebrates
the accords of its legendary floral bouquet of scents, starting with this bath and shower oil that comes in a luxurious jewel-bottle and golden lid. Upon contact with water, this smooth oil transforms into a light, perfumed foam that unfolds first with hints of jasmine.
I hate to admit this but I do have a fear of using eyelash curlers, probably after a bad experience or two. Each time I try to use a curler, there’s a nagging feeling at the back of my mind about accidentally pulling out all my already short lashes or pinching myself in the eyes. But since discovering this curler, I’m able to curl my lashes without even looking at a mirror because the way that this curler is flatter than conventional curlers helps it fit all eyelid shapes well. Plus, its matte rubber handles really gives it a good grip. To achieve an elegant curl, squeeze lashes from the inner corner to the outer – this makes even tired eyes look revived.
We know and love Dior’s Backstage Face & Body Foundation. And now comes a new addition to the family – a multi-use highlighter, complete with gold shimmers. It doesn’t have any pigment at all, which makes it suitable for all skin tones across the board, without altering the colour. Mix with a foundation to achieve an all-over glow or apply it over foundation to highlight the high points.
This month, the well-loved soothing cream from La Mer will be refashioned in a limited-edition packaging that features black and white deco photography, thanks to the collaboration between the brand and fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti and his daughter Gray Sorrenti.
