As a dermatologist-founded brand, Dr Dennis Gross delivers clean skincare without compromising on performance and efficacy. Carrie Gross and her husband Dennis Gross are the founders behind this cult-favourite brand.

And when we say cult, we mean, cult. Just take a look at the long line of celebrities who endlessly rave about their products. From Chrissy Teigen, Constance Wu, to Selena Gomez, the list is endless.

Using third party clinical studies, Dr Dennis Gross prioritises objective research to ensure that the study is completely impartial. And to ensure that all feedback and findings are as factual and unbiased as possible. Their products are helmed by formulas that are inspired by Dennis’ clinical background and expert research.

For those who are new to the brand, which Dr Dennis Gross products would you recommend?

I can honestly say that the Alpha Beta Daily Peels is my number one go-to when recommending our brand to a new client. It does wonders for correcting and preventing against fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, dullness and skin texture.

But it is so hard for me to only recommend the Alpha Beta Peel. We have amazing serums, moisturizers, cleansers and eye treatments that work synergistically with the peels to give both immediate and long-term benefits.

Beauty secrets or tips that you’ve learned from your experience in the industry?

If you want real results, find products with active ingredients that are proven to work. I always check to see if there are clinical studies that demonstrate the product’s effectiveness.

I also stay away from synthetic fragrances and dyes and products that are not clean or cruelty-free. One final thing to remember is that products won’t work when they sit on your shelf unused. To really see the best results, you need to adhere to a diligent at-home skincare routine!

In a time where ‘maskne’ is such a huge concern, what are some of your tips for getting rid of breakouts?

Everyone feels so uncomfortable in masks. They put the skin in an unnatural and uncomfortable environment that traps humidity and heat. It is a perfect environment to breed acne-causing bacteria. To help avoid breakouts, you should cleanse the skin in the morning before putting your mask – do not put any other products on.

Dennis says that if you put on any serums, moisturisers, makeup or SPF under the mask, it can cause even more congestion. In the evening when you get home, remove your mask and allow your skin to breathe. Follow with a gentle, non-drying cleanser like the Hyarluonic Marine Meltaway Cleanser.

If you are suffering from breakouts, try our DRx Blemish Solution Breakout Clearing Gel. You should see your skin clearing in as soon as two days with this treatment.

Beauty advice you’d share with your younger self?

It is possible to prevent and put off ageing if you use the right products. Make sure you are using active ingredients like vitamin C to build collagen. Wear a chemical-free SPF 365 days per year to protect your skin. Also, don’t forget the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

Exercise, eating fruits and vegetables and meditating is important for your overall health. Last but not least, invest in a good juicer. Future you will be addicted to making green juice every morning.

Can you give us a sneak peek on what you’ve got lined up for the future?

I can give you a hint for an exciting announcement coming in January next year: head-to-toe glow…. For many years, we have been focused on the face, neck and decolletage. Now, we are excited to share that we will be helping you take care of the skin on your body as well!

Next month, we will be launching a new serum which targets hyperpigmentation. It is a huge problem all over the world, but it is especially challenging in warm, sunny climates. This serum addresses all kinds of hyperpigmentation – melasma, sun spots, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Plus it builds collagen and addresses fine lines and wrinkles too.

“I personally like to use it in the evening. I apply the cleanser on a cotton round and cleanse. Afterwards, the skin is dewy, radiant and ready for nighttime serums. The cleanser is formulated with marine algae, aloe, micellar technology and hyaluronic acid. It also has a beautiful, naturally occurring citrus scent. It is perfect for all skin types – dry and sensitive as well as oily. My 19-year-old loves it – and my mature skin loves it too.”

This is the newest addition to Dr Dennis Gross’ Hyaluronic Marine category. As Carrie shares, “It is a super effective, incredibly hydrating cleanser. It leaves your skin glowing and beautiful – almost like you don’t need makeup! You can use it with or without water so it is great for when you are on the go. This is really the perfect cleanser for Singaporeans. With hot and humid climates, your skin more easily becomes congested and pores become clogged.
