The online shopping site is probably more commonly known for its fashion offerings. But in recent years, Net-a-Porter has slowly but surely grown its beauty inventory with a mix of popular makeup brands like Charlotte Tilbury and Rodin, as well as cult skincare labels like Sunday Riley and Nannette de Gaspe, and currently carries more than 200 beauty brands. And these five new brands to join the online retail giant’s lineup is sure to solidify its standing as one of the must-visit sites to find new and interesting beauty buys.
This American brand only has one product, but it’s a definite winner. The Active Botanical Serum is made with 22 active botanicals and essential oils to restore skin’s balance, texture and radiance. The 100 per cent active face oil is infused with natural, organic and wildcrafted ingredients from conscious growers around the world, and is formulated without sulphates, parabens, phthalates and synthetic fragrances.
The lightweight, multi-tasking oil addresses all skincare needs from fine lines, acne, elasticity and radiance. It also has anti-inflammatory properties making it great for sensitive skin, and is rich in nourishing antioxidants, fatty acids and minerals to fight free radical damage and boost cell turnover.
It’s one of our all-time favourite skincare as it leaves your complexion clear and hydrated, without the greasiness you sometimes get with an oil. And while its USD $182 (approx. $254) price tag is a bit high for the petite 30ml bottle, it’s definitely worth every cent.
The second product line involving New York City-based dermatologist David Colbert, NYDG (an acronym for New York Dermatology Group) Skincare is the brainchild of a multi-disciplinary team of American Academy of Dermatology Board certified dermatologists, internal physicians, aestheticians and chemists.
Designed for all ages, the team believes that skin sensitivity is often self-inflicted from overly aggressive products and an unhealthy lifestyle. The six-piece range (prices from USD $58 – $135) is rich in antioxidants and helps to promote healing and repair, while protecting skin against pollution and environmental stressors.
It has everything you need in a basic skincare regimen. A calming facial wash (Colloidal Oatmeal Cleanser), a balancing essence made of probiotics and willowherb to leave you with a dewy complexion (Luminizing Skin Essence), a hyaluronic acid and antioxidant-rich hydrating serum (Ultra-Light Hydra-Gel), a luxe moisturiser packed with peptides and botanicals to smooth and firm (Formula 119 Cream), a de-puffing and calming eye gel made with chamomile and cucumber (Re-Contour Eye Gel), and a gentle zinc oxide-based sunscreen (Chem-Free Active Defense SPF30).
Founded by Singaporean Nicolas Travis, who was a former social media manager at Ogilvy & Mather’s, the cult favourite is grounded in the belief that skin can rejuvenate and heal itself, so the role of skincare is to facilitate the process with powerful actives in clean, concentrated formulas to re-train skin to heal itself.
All of the brand’s products tend to be multifunctional, treating everything from oily skin, enlarged pores, breakouts, rough skin texture and free radical damage. The hero products of the brand are definitely the two leave-on masks and toning mist.
The first product for the brand, and still one of its most popular, is the 1A All-Day Mask (USD $94) contains a blend of 11 antioxidants to boost hydration, suppleness, protect against pollution and UV rays. It’s also made with 35 active ingredients said to hydrate and strengthen skin’s delicate barrier, as well as repair stressed skin.
Used after cleansing and before your masks, the Molecular Saviour Toner Mist (USD $52) soothes stress and calms inflammation, while revitalises tired skin. It also has antibiotic probiotics to balance skin and prevent the formation of pimples and redness. To round up the trio, the 1A Overnight Mask (price unavailable) heals and rejuvenates stressed, problematic skin, improving pore size, radiance and skin texture overnight.
With over 20 salons worldwide, Rossano Ferretti is one the industry’s leading names in hair care. A cut with him costs about $2,000 and he counts celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence and Reese Witherspoon as clients. His mantra has always been about enhancing hair’s natural beauty, which is what his hair care range is all about
Made in Italy with the finest saw materials from plant and vegetable oils to minimise the usage of biopolymers, the range is suitable for all hair types and are free of sulfates, parabens, and formaldehyde. They are also surprisingly affordable, when you consider the amount its namesake charges for a hair cut. Shampoos go for USD $37 (approx. $52) while a leave-in serum cost USD $42 (approx. $59).

Perfect for simplifying your daily routine, every product is designed to be multitasking, effortless and easy-to-use on the go.
The brand’s first product, the duo-sided On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator (USD $44), was launched in 2015 and is still one of its most popular products. Other products we love are the Carryon Lip and Cheek Gel (USD $23), that delivers a soft wash of colour, and the two-in-one Rise and Prime Balm and Primer Duo ($USD $44).
