The Exfoliating Masks That Will Leave Your Skin Glowing

by MOH SHUYING  /   March 14, 2018

We can’t emphasize enough how important exfoliating your skin is. They not only help to regulate cell turnover (which slows down as you age), they also help to smooth and soften your complexion so it looks more radiant after. In fact, many dermatologists believe that exfoliation can help your skin absorb the active ingredients from your skincare by about 20 per cent. And if you’re not a fan of scrubs, we’ve put together a selection of awesome masks that will exfoliate and nourish your complexion at the same time.

The Exfoliating Masks That Will Leave Your Skin Glowing
#1: Herbivore Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask, $69, Sephora
image

This natural beauty brand is a favourite amongst international beauty journalists and bloggers alike. The product we are most obsessed with is this clarifying and cooling gel mask that gently exfoliates, smooths and resurfaces skin. The mask’s star ingredient is Blue Tansy Oil, and is a powerful anti-inflammatory that reduces and soothes irritated skin. It is also made with White Willow Bark, which is high in salicylic acid (BHA), as well as papaya and pineapple extracts (that are natural AHAs), to gently exfoliate and rid skin of dead cells. Aloe leaf extract rounds up this dream team to gently decongest and unclog pores for a smoother complexion.

#2: Kypris Beauty Glow Philtre, USD $89.08 (approx. $117), Net-a-porter

Suitable for all skin types, even sensitive and acne-prone, this mask is blended with refining pomegranate enzymes, softening sea fennel and sea algae, and hydrating Silver Ear mushroom. It’s formula resurfaces the skin for an even, soft texture and brightened appearance. You can use it up to three times per week to prep your complexion for makeup application or to encourage renewal and cleanse pores.

#3: Laneige Clear C Peeling Mask, $30
image

This helps to gently smooth out skin texture with natural alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) fruit acid derived from sugar maple, sugarcane, orange, lemon and bilberry. These AHAs are able to quickly penetrate skin to soften dead skin cells and speed up skin’s natural exfoliation process. It also has Super Berry extract, a complex infused with acerola and acai berry extracts, that is said to be able to have triple the amount of antioxidants as regular vitamin C to give you a clear, glowing complexion. The mask also contains soft, natural strawberry seeds and konjac to gently exfoliate. To be used as a special care two to three times a week, this helps to softly scrub while treating skin. To use, simply apply a thick layer and massage on the product to help get rid of surface dead skin cells, and rinse.

#4: Bobbi Brown Instant Detox Mask, $70
image

Like a deep cleanse for skin, this clarifying clay-based formula helps to detoxify skin by deeply penetrating skin’s surface to aid the removal of impurities and pollutants, revealing purified, healthier and clearer looking and feeling skin. It contains a unique blend of Hawaiian Sea Water and mineral-rich Amazonian White Clay to help extract toxins and impurities, while maintaining moisture and reducing the appearance of pore size.

#5: Sulwhasoo Snowise Exfoliating Mask, $85
image

This exfoliating mask is made with finely grounded White Ginseng powder and extract to give you a clearer and smoother skin. It is an in-shower wash-off mask – making it super convenient – and is hypoallergenic and great for sensitive skin. As with all Snowise brightening products, it contains White Ginseng, which is said to help proliferate skin cells, create denser skin, boost moisture levels, suppress melanin and increase collagen to achieve clear, translucent skin. Other ingredients like Korean herbal medicinal hydrating complex and honey help to effectively remove impurities and dead skin cells.

#6: Joanna Vargas Exfoliating Mask, USD$68.78 (approx. $90), Net-a-porter
image

this gentle mask is formulated with lactic acid, vitamin C and Kaolin clay to smooth away dullness, deeply cleanse pores and increase cell turnover in just under 15 minutes. It also has the ingredient Galactoarabinan to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation and boost healthy cell renewal, vitamin C to promote collagen and elastin production, as well as hyaluronic acid to hydrate.
