Trust Alessandro Michele to create one of the most luxurious fragrance ranges we have ever come across. In partnership with perfumer Alberto Morillas, the pair have recently revealed their newest creation: The Alchemist’s Garden. Conceptualised as a series, it consists of seven eau de parfums, four perfumed oils, three scented waters (they each have their own distinct scent), and a candle. What makes this new collection really stand out is that it encourages individuality; proposing one layer the range’s products to create their own bespoke scent that is one-of-a-kind.
A hero ingredient is magnified for each EDP — oud, amber, violet, iris, mimosa, rose and woods — and every fragrance tells the story of a place, moment, season and memory, like returning home from a summer away and the smell when it starts raining in the city. Housed in Insta-worthy bottles (we mean, have you seen Michele’s home decor range for Gucci?) inspired by the curious pharmacy jars and traditional perfumery containers one would expect to see in an old school apothecary, the seven EDPs sport gold lettering, decoration and animal symbols on their lacquered glass bottles, topped with stoppers. All of the scent flacons are white — save The Voice of the Snake (in black) and A Song for the Rose, the latter in a shade of blue chosen by Michele. The blue bottle is reminiscent to one that he’d seen in his mother’s bathroom, hers, filled with the essence of roses.
As for the three perfumed waters, they each come in a specially designed white lacquered glass bottle decorated with the brand’s whimsical pink rose print. The four oils are in a sage green lacquered glass bottle, and reveal a glass pipette style applicator. A candle, monikered The Virgin Violet, is housed in an ornate white porcelain jar, richly decorated with real gold.
