These Hydrating Korean Face Masks Will Plump Up Your Skin Fast

by SOFIA KIM  /   March 1, 2018

We envy the South Koreans for their plump, dewy and moist complexions. The key step to achieving that? By constantly hydrating your skin and pumping it with sufficient moisture. While using a toner and serum that targets dehydrated skin is important, one great way to level up your regime is by using facial masks. Whether an overnight sleeping one or a sheet mask, they give your skin an intense boost of moisture so it looks fresher, healthier and more luminous. To help you get started, we picked out the best hydrating Korean face masks you need to try out.

These Hydrating Korean Face Masks Will Plump Up Your Skin Fast
#1: Su:m 37 Water-Full Radiant Hydrating Mask, $135 for a box of 10

This has both hydrating and whitening benefits and is said to boost skin’s moisture levels, radiance and elasticity. It has three main ingredients:  Aqua Ferm (to keep skin hydrated), Aqua Light (it consists of precious truffle-derived yeast extract and Western medicinal herbs to suppress melanin production) and Poria Light (to firm and plump skin).

#2: Mamonde Enriched Nutri Sleeping Mask, $28

With a gel cream texture, this overnight sleeping mask contains tiny beads of evening primrose oil (to treat dehydrated skin) that bursts and disappears once applied, releasing the ingredient onto your skin.

#3: Laneige White Dew Vita Capsule Sleeping Mask, $28 for eight capsules

The key ingredient in the sleeping mask? The brand’s Sleep-Melatox Technology that contains green tea and pomegranate extract. The former helps to purify skin as you sleep and also aids autophagy – a process that breaks down melanin residue in the cells overnight, resulting in clearer and brighter skin. The latter provides antioxidants for the skin to rejuvenate and recuperate and acts as a defense mechanism against oxidative stress in skin cells.

#4: Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Mask, $72 for a box of five
image

Formulated with the brand’s skin-rebalancing formula Jaum Balancing Complex and its First Care Activating Serum EX, this effectively hydrates, soothes and balances skin for a healthier-looking complexion. Its micro net radiance sheet allows the active ingredients to penetrate into the deeper layers of skin quicker.

#5: Dr. Jart+ Rubber Mask Moist Lover, $18, Sephora

This two-step mask comprises an intensive care ampoule and a rubber sheet mask. The former targets dehydrated skin while the latter prevents the active ingredients from evaporating to ensure maximum efficacy. Bonus: the mask has soothing properties to calm irritated skin.

#6: Cosrx One Step Moisture Up Kit 1’s, $6.90, Watsons

This kit comes with a low pH gel cleanser to remove makeup and dirt while balancing skin’s pH levels. It also contains two of the brand’s Moisture Up Pads that hydrates and exfoliates skin. Lastly, it consists of the Holy Moly Snail Mask to further lock in moisture.
#6: Laneige Water Bank Double Gel Soothing Mask, $34

Formulated with hydro ion mineral water, which is infused with six ionised moisturising minerals that help to regulate skin moisture, this deeply penetrates into skin to lower its temperature, soothe flushed skin and keep it soft and supple for hours.

#7: Blithe Blue Zone Marine Intensive Maks Abalone, $46 for a box of eight, Sephora
image

Infused with abalone extract (which is packed with minerals, proteins and amino acids), hyaluronic acid and the hydrating ingredient biosccharide gumone, this intensely moisturises skin and soothes sensitivity.

#8: The History of Whoo Gongjinhyang Soo Hydrating Overnight Mask, $72
image

This lightweight mask promotes blood circulation for better nutrient delivery across skin cells, as well as cools skin’s temperature and acts as a shield to prevent moisture loss.

#9: Caolion Freshly Hydro Sheet Mask, $55 for a box of six
image

Great for all skin types, this jelly-like hydrogel mask locks in moisture for immediate and long-lasting hydration, while natural prunus mume water and chitosan purifies, calms and restores the skin’s natural strength.

#10: May Coop Raw Sheet, $49 for a box of six, Escentials
image

If you have tired skin, this is the mask you need. This unbleached cotton sheet mask is soaked in a rich serum that quickly sinks into skin to deliver hydrating maple water for a fresher and plumper complexion.

#11: Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask, $49, Sephora
image

This refreshing aqua gel mask is enriched with a unique complex of bamboo sap and fibres to leave skin feeling smooth, hydrated and plump. It can also be used as a rinse-off hydro-plumping mask or a moisturising leave-on treatment.

#12: Innisfree Coconut Bio-Cellulose Mask (Hydrating), $5.50

Developed with a naturally-derived sheet made from fermented coconut, this bio-cellulose mask is made of witch-hazel water, coconut water and coconut oil to moisturise skin.
