When a beauty brand known for its skin-loving philosophy is backed by science and technology to make the most of its natural ingredients, consider us intrigued. Holistic Japanese beauty brand Three will finally be making its sought-after debut in Singapore come 15 September on the fourth floor of Tangs @ Tangs Plaza. The store will also be the first (besides its flagship store in Aoyama, Japan) to offer the Three Rhythm Spa, a customised face and body massage that stimulates the body’s biological rhythm.
After making waves for its plant-based skincare, body care and makeup products in countries such as Hong Kong and Taiwan, I just had to test it out myself to see how great it really is. Here, my thoughts on some of the brand’s most popular products.
I always use waterproof makeup which is why finding the perfect makeup remover or cleansing oil that removes even stubborn mascara is very important to me. After trying out Three’s Balancing Cleansing Oil, which contains a mixture of essential oils such as jojoba and rosehip oil, I’m totally hooked. This gentle oil thoroughly removes makeup and excess sebum on my skin and is super gentle as well. It did not cause any irritation, even around the eye area, and quickly removed all traces of makeup. It also did not leave my skin feeling oily or greasy after. Instead, my skin felt soft, smooth and hydrated. P/S: All the products in the Balancing line has the same scent derived from the natural ingredients used.
Made with 91 per cent naturally derived ingredients, this instantly hydrates my skin, leaving it plump and super soft. It also absorbs quickly into my skin and does not leave any greasy sensation.
I was quite surprised after pumping the product onto my hands as it felt a lot more watery as compared to other emulsions. I personally feel that this product works the best with Three’s Balancing Lotion to really give your skin the moisture it needs. After using both products, my skin looked brighter, dewier and feels more hydrated.
Applying a primer is a crucial step in my makeup routine as I am always out till late so I need my makeup to look fresh the entire day (and night). The first things I noticed about this product: there was no strong or artificial fragrance and it ifelt slightly more watery than other primers, making it super easy to blend onto my skin. The nude beige tint helped even out my skin tone to create a smooth base for my foundation. I used this product on a night out and when I got home, I was pleasantly surprised to see that my foundation still held up and was not melting off my face.
This powder is great if you want to achieve a matte finish. The powders are finely milled and feel almost like second skin. However, I personally prefer a dewy to satin finish and thus, I prefer to only apply a tiny bit of the product on the parts of my face where it gets oily throughout the day (read: my T-zone tends to get oily really quickly).
I love eyeshadows (yes, I apply it every day) so of course, I was excited to try this product. It is super easy to use and very travel-friendly so touch ups are not a problem. My tip: Gently pat the product onto your lids instead of rubbing/massaging it on. The colour payoff is much more obvious that way. I also like to set it with a translucent powder to ensure it does not crease.
