Ye may be gone but one thing has remained to the end with Julia Fox: her eye makeup. Indeed, the actress unadulterated inky black eyeliner look has launched dozens of memes and is as much a part of her style as her coordinated outfits with her former beau Ye whom she split from over the weekend.

Who can forget how her black-rimmed peepers stole the show on the front row at the haute couture show for Schiaparelli recently? Contrary to popular belief, the look wasn’t executed by Ye, but by celebrity makeup artist Daniel Kolaric using Pat McGrath Labs products (Pat McGrath herself created the look for the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2022 show).
According to veteran makeup pro Sha Shamsi, there are alternative techniques and more palatable eye makeup for mere mortals to master if you’re keen to emulate Fox’s signature eye makeup.

Julia Fox isn’t the only one with a flair for the dramatic. Chanel’s runway models also sported variations of intense eyeliner during the Maison’s Spring/Summer 2022 couture show using the Stylo Yeux Waterproof 88 Noir Intense.
“Instead of intensely painting your entire eye socket and lids, tone things down by running your liner several times along the shape of your eyes instead of filling up your whole eye,” she says.
She add that you can also substitute an eyeliner pencil with powder and a damp brush to achieve a softer and painterly appearance. “Alternatively, use softer tones like light brown, soft pink or caramel for something less intimidating,” she says.
