What do Nicky Hilton, Amal Clooney and Kate Middleton have in common? They opted for demure dresses that are alluring, elegant, and classy. By FELICIA TAN
The Alice Through The Looking Glass star looked otherworldly in pale pink and cloud-like tulle, as she wed actor and producer Adam Shulman in a breathtaking hand-painted Valentino dress with yards of gauzy tulle and embroidered with satin flowers with off-shoulder sleeves, accessorised with a vintage 1930s-inspired headpiece.
All eyes were on the illustrious British barrister as she became Mrs George Clooney in a resplendent flowy Oscar de la Renta cream Chantilly lace and tulle dress with crystal and beaded embroidery with off-shoulder sleeves.

The American heiress, socialite and fashion designer looked absolutely regal in an impressive floor-length Valentino couture lace ballgown with sleeves and high neck when she wed British banking scion James Rothschild at The Orangery at Kensington Palace. Hilton paired her classic look with an equally timeless low-bun, cathedral-length veil and all-white bouquet.

The reality TV star showed off her famous curves in a figure-hugging Givenchy lace dress with a mermaid-cut, sheer paneling and cutouts by good friend and designer Riccardo Tisci. The bride wore the dress with her hair in loose, romantic curls and a matching silk veil.
The socialite-turned-fashion designer and style icon, and the daughter of Lionel Richie turned heads in a dramatic and whimsical ballgown by red carpet favourite, Marchesa. The dress featured lace sleeves, as well as a couture-cut full skirt that was made from more than 100 yards (over 90 metres) of hand-draped organza and tulle petals.

There was much speculation over the Duchess of Cambridge’s designer of choice in the days leading up to the much talked about royal wedding in 2011. The Duchess didn’t disappoint, as she stepped out of the Rolls Royce at the entrance of Westminster Abbey, in a flowing A-line Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton dress. The design included a lace overlay that looked similar to Hollywood and Monegasque royalty, Grace Kelly’s dress.
When the former reality TV star and model became Swedish royalty on June 2015, all eyes were on her custom-made couture dress by Swedish designer Ida Sjostedt – a modest yet romantic floor-length silk crepe design in three shades of white with Italian silk organza overlay with lace details and soft v-neckline, and cathedral-length lace and tulle veil.
