From skin-illuminating strobe creams to glittery lips, top makeup artists dish nifty tips and tricks to creating a luminous bridal glow. By Michelle Lee
“For a subtle glow, go for Yves Saint Laurent Beaute’s Top Secret skincare range which includes a lightweight moisturiser, an all-in-one skintone-perfecting BB cream, and a radiance-enhancing exfoliator or MAC Cosmetic’s Strobe Cream. For the latter, brides with a good complexion can apply it on their skin sans makeup, or mix it with a bit of foundation and apply on cheekbones and on the inner corners of their eyes. For sparkly eyes, I love the eyeshadows from Tom Ford, YSL Beaute and Urban Decay for the subtle shine that look natural in the day, and are glamorous enough for the evening.” – Sha Shamsi (ww.shashamsi.com)
“One way to add that extra sparkle and glow is to use a finely milled highlighting powder (no chunky glitters!) onto cheekbones, the nose bridge, Cupid’s bow and chin to reflect light. Using a fan brush, dust lightly across skin. Or if you’re really into glitter, use it on your eyes and lips. On the former, apply liquid glitter (like the ones from Urban Decay!) on the inner corners of the eyes on top of your usual eye makeup and for the latter, mix a glitter pigment into a lipgloss of your choice to really amp up the sparkle.” – Marie Soh (www.27A.co)

“Highlighter is a must-have for me. I love adding it around the cheekbone area (from the outer corner of the eyes towards and along the cheekbones) to make them really stand out. The HABA Sugar White cheek powder is great for adding a soft shimmery touch. ” – Tinoq Russell Goh (HP: 9816-2149)

“Besides using highlighter on the cheekbones, one trick I always use to define lips is to use highlighter on the Cupid’s bow. I’d recommend the Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder, and Palette from Hourglass Cosmetics and Becca Cosmetics’ Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pressed Champagne Pop to create a radiant glow.” – Lolent Lee (www.lolentlee.com)

“For a touch of sparkle on the eyes, I always prefer shimmery coloured eyeshadow instead of neutrals. One of my favourite evening looks right now: Glittery burgundy eye liner that looks stunning with red lips. (Tip: Asians can pull off red hues with warm (orange) undertones well.) If you’re focusing on your kissers: a glittery gloss like the Magnificent Metals Lip Gloss in Moonstone from Stila or a subtle lustrous one like the Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Yu.” – Rina Sim (HP: 9762-6084)
