Designers went for maximum impact with multiple hair accessories. At Rodarte, a faux crown was created by securing two floral clips onto textured strands, while Chanel pinned pigtails with metal barrettes and finished with a pair of headbands.

Bows were all over the runways and nowhere more so than in the hair of the models. Redken Global Creative Director Guido Palau said: “The messy twist this season is very boyish, but the bow adds an offness and ease that’s very Lanvin.” Lanvin chose to add a bow at the back, while Oscar de la Renta tied a grosgrain rinbbon around a low ponytail for an effortlessly beautiful look. But it was Badgley Mischka who showed how to add drama by tying a piece of organza around (and pulling hair towards) the nape.

Feel like royalty for the day by sporting your own tiara. A rock and roll edge was seen at Saint Laurent whereby the crown was placed over loose locks while Miu Miu went boho by pairing pigtails with a tiara. A youthful interpretation for modern-day princess, it adds a bit of head sparkle without any inkling of pageantry.

For classic meets casual, take inspiration from Givenchy. Luihi Murenu for Kerastase created a loose textured style – first twist your hair into a low bun at the nape of your neck, before putting on a rich metallic headband. For more inspirational knots, look at Tory Burch and Zac Posen.

If you want to keep your hair in check during a beach wedding, replicate the look that Guido Palau created for Alberta Ferretti. Create three ponytails – front, side andback, and twist and pin around your head. Use gold-coloured elastic bands to make this casual updo extra chic. Pull out your baby hairs and a few strands around your face to soften this look.

If you’re not keen on sporting the crown jewels, you can still add some glamour to your big day by wearing a strip of lace or beads close to your hairline as the modes did at 3.1 Phillip Lim and N°21.
