A Day In The Life Of Content Creator Steph Er

The pandemic has no doubt affected everybody, altering lifestyles and reminding us that often, what was once considered ordinary cannot be taken for granted. Here, podcast host and entrepreneur Steph Er shows us how a day in her life looks like.

Content creator, singular podcast host (see her IG account @arch.army) and entrepreneur, Steph Er wears many hats. Even though the pandemic saw her winding down her stylish cafe Sugarfin, this always impeccably dressed cool cookie is constantly buzzing with her next big idea – or turning them into reality.

Expect the energetic Er’s life to be anything but routine as she juggles being a podcast host (she’s snapping Holly Grabarek here for a photo during the filming of a recent episode), lifestyle entrepreneur and creative consultant with being a mum and taking care of her own well-being.

At press time, she was most excited about the launch of Club 21’s Fall/Winter 2021 campaign, which she spearheaded under Creampie – her creative, social media and digital marketing agency.

Scroll on to see Er break down her day for us.

9AM

“I work mostly from home, having recently transformed my guest room into an office. Breakfast is usually whatever is available in the fridge and on some days, I don’t even have time for it. Take this morning when I had to record a video with Holly (Grabarek, former MTV VJ and now a wellness expert) for my podcast series… I grabbed a cookie for a snack on the go.”

“I’m a morning person so I like to schedule all my meetings early in the day to get them out of the way. Today, I’m meeting with Club 21’s marketing manager who had approached me to do the fashion retailer’s Fall/Winter 2021 campaign (pictured) – a first for it because as much as it’s had all these wonderful multi-label stores for years, it’s never come up with its own in-house video campaign until now.”

NOON TO 6PM

“I usually order lunch in or have instant noodles. I’m often juggling multiple projects simultaneously so if I’m not out, I’m not too bothered by what I have. I also try to work out every day, but if things get too busy, it’s every other day – this is important to me as it helps with my mental clarity. At the end of the work day – or sometimes even in the middle of it – I like to take an hour out and go for a walk. And I can take work calls during this walk too.”

“I try to set aside evenings for my daughter. And part of the perks of being my own boss is that I can take time out whenever needed. Today, for example, I brought her to the doctor’s then went for a haircut before coming home. I don’t like sticking to a set routine as I feel that it makes me lazy and creatively unproductive; I prefer to be constantly on the move. As a treat and to wind down, I like to do a facial mask – typically at the end of the week.”

9:30PM TO 10:30 PM

“I usually binge on Netflix to relax before I head for bed. My policy on weekends and right before I sleep is not to touch the phone as much as I can help it. Thinking about work is so prevalent – everyone is always working; send an email or text message out and a quick reply is expected. People need to ease off that. Unless it’s dire, we should allow others to have the space to breathe and think. It’s so much better for everyone’s mental health and you know what? I’ve found that people produce better-quality work this way.”
