TUFT CLUB

Established: 2021

What it’s about: As an advocate of slow-made textiles, Tuft Club offers individuals the chance to learn more about the textile weaving technique and the craftsmanship behind it. Fun fact: they’re also Singapore’s first rug tufting studio that uses the modern method of using a tufting gun.

Check out: At the moment, Tuft Club offers both rug tufting and mirror tufting workshops that last for four and a half hours. During each workshop, customers will receive detailed guidance on tufting; how to operate the tufting gun; learn various tufting techniques; and finishing the desired bespoke piece. After drying and finishing, the final project (be it contemporary rug/wall-hanging or mirror piece) will be delivered at no additional cost, within two and threw weeks.

For each rug tufting workshop, individuals will be provided with a tufting gun, a 70x70cm cut of monk’s cloth, 25 colours of cotton yarn or 50 colours of wool yarn as a top-up, rug tufting frames, fabric glue, and Oxford backing finishes. Projectors are available to assist in sketches of designs.

For each mirror tufting workshop, individuals will be provided with a tufting gun, a 21x30cm mirror, a 70x70cm cut of monk’s cloth, 25 colours of cotton yarn or 50 colours of wool yarn as a top-up, rug tufting frames, and fabric glue.

Established: 2019

What it’s about: Dedicated to mess, expression and play, Splat Paint House is the art jamming studio if you want to let loose and literally splatter paint to your heart’s desire. Heck, you can even splash some on the walls and have a dance party while you’re at it too.

Beyond this, we’ve also heard they’re starting Spin Paint House that will specialise in Spin Art, made famous in the ’60s and most recognisably seen as a technique in paintings by artists like Damien Hirst, Swarez, and Callen Schaub. This studio is said to be decked with custom made spin tables with high RPM speeds, pendulums and trapezes.

Check out: Get ready to play with splattering paint whether you take up a starter, duo or party package. If you’re in a mood to have a party, opt for the UV Party where you can dabble with special fluorescent paints under UV lights.

Each activity offers a canvas, 400 ml paints, syringe, squirt bottle/water gun and all other tools. Coveralls, shoe covers, safety glasses and add-ons can be included depending on packages and requests.
