Planning Your Next Beach Holiday? Check Into These Luxury Resorts In Vietnam And Cambodia

by IMRAN JALAL  /   May 24, 2017

If your diet of pop culture revolves around The Real Housewives, then you’d know that packing for a beach holiday usually involves a major wardrobe situation. Incidentally, the recent barrage of Cannes images on our social media feed is also making a strong case for a luxury beach vacation. If you are having a serious case of wanderlust by now, then have Cambodia and Vietnam on your radar stat, thanks to three new stylish resorts popping up in this part of the world. Here’s why they get our vote: They’re located in underrated locales (yep, no Bali or Phuket); come with beautiful architecture, design and perks (outdoor cinema anyone?); and is even nearer to Singapore than Hong Kong is. Here, we highlight the three beach resorts to consider for your next holiday, plus the items you need to pack.

Opening in the last quarter of this year, this eco-conscious estate is situated on the island of Koh Russey — also known as Bamboo Island — off the southern coast of Cambodia.

It’s the first Alila outpost in this region that is out of its home turf of Bali. The pared down aesthetic of the 63 pavilions and villas in the resort is perfect for the luxury traveller with a taste for modern and minimalist design.

Among the perks for guests: a beachfront, a yoga studio with complimentary classes, an outdoor cinema and an organic garden.

#2: The Anam

Located along Vietnam’s southeastern coast, this 117-villa and 96-room resort is inspired by colonial French architecture. Think imperial Hue-style roofs and French-style flooring.

#2: The Anam

Besides amenities like three restaurants, two bars and a 3D movie theatre, the property has its own stretch of private beach overlooking one of the most idyllic sea views in the country.

Trivia: The lush tropical setting of this 12-hectare property has something to do with the 3,000 palm trees surrounding the grounds.

#3: Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai

This five-month-old resort has a contemporary take on the architecture of the ancient Vietnamese city of Hue. Situated just 30 minutes from Da Nang International Airport, the property sits on a one-kilometre stretch of prime beachfront.

#3: Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai

There are a total of 100 villas here, including 40  that come with their own private pools.

History buffs will be glad to know that the resort is situated near to three  Unesco World Heritage Sites: Hoi An, My Son and Hue.

#4: Jersey maillot, $620, Hermes

This saffron one-piece is the kind of beachwear good enough to wear out of the pool and in the water.

#5: Cotton-blend off-shoulder dress, Chloe

A beach holiday calls for a chic bohemian number.

#6: Nappa leather ankle-strap mules, $1,200, Celine

A pair of dressy flats is all you need for dinner.

#7: Cotton-blend jumpsuit, Cos

Khakis should be on your list of holiday essentials too.
