It is undeniable that this year’s Halloween had an abundance of cool and immersive parties and we bet it left you craving for more. Fortunately, the slew of parties continues into Nov. To help you navigate your way through the elusive world of underground parties (both big and small), we have rounded up some of the wildest events that are happening in the next few weeks.
Since its inception in June 2022, techno collective Modal’s parties are known for their off-kilter beats and experimental tunes. Its first party, Mode01, broke pre-conceived notions of what techno is expected to be – with a repertoire that goes from deep, hypnotic synths to cutting-edge, raw industrial soundscapes. The upcoming iteration on Nov 4 is no different. Located in Projector X: Riverside Point, the party will feature a mix of seasoned and new DJs like Aya, who is known for her hypnotic sets infused with accelerated beats, and Haan, who mixes high-energy techno with old-school techniques – meaning that you’ll be in for a genre-transcending auditory ride.

Who says that you can only celebrate Halloween in October? Well, certainly not 0rbit. The Gen Z multidisciplinary art platform is following up its inaugural queer party night Cosmos, held in August, with a belated Halloween-themed party if you’re still craving more spooky season shenanigans. Held at Kult Kafe at Turf Club Road, this version of Cosmos features 0rbit’s mainstay DJ Xaetherx and up-and-coming acts like Idy11 and Metamoksha alongside a performance by drag artist Fizzy Soda. Do doll up in your creepiest outfits as the best-dressed reveller wins a free drink for the night.

DJ collectives, Ice Cream Sundays and Darker Than Wax have joined forces once again for day-to-night event Haw Par Thrilla 3 – after more than two years of pandemic restrictions. Expect groovy beats by the likes of Bongomann, Dean Chew and Muto – all of whom are rightfully known as stalwarts of the electronic music scene here. Located on the grounds of the iconoclastic Haw Par Villa, the seven-and-a-half hour-long event is a beefed-up version of Brew, another recurring party by Darker Than Wax.

Since 2008, multi-genre party and music collective Mugic has been hosting crazy parties across Saigon, Bali and Singapore – and it is finally time that they made a post-pandemic comeback in Singapore. Held in Thai KTV Purnrao in Golden Mile Complex, this wild nocturnal event seeks to meld the charm of a unique location with tantalising beats. With acts like Singaporean-Australian Dang and Vietnamese-American MyHero playing house, techno and psychedelic, the party’s one not to be missed, especially as the end of the beloved complex’s current incarnation in May 2023 inches closer and closer.

Arguably one of Singapore’s most beloved monthly nights, Never Lose That Feeling returns with our favourite DJs from longest-running party collective Eatmepoptart. Sing along and dance till dawn with Adrian Wee, KidG and Darren Hedger as they dish out anything from Y2K classics to new indie-pop hits in the iconic Hard Rock Cafe on Nov 11.

Before the iconic Golden Mile Complex vacates itself and mark the end of an era, Late Shenanigans is giving us an opportunity to party within the space for the last time ever. Situated in the iconic arts studio Room 0416, where many local artists have performed tantalising gigs in, the mega party has an act for everyone. From rock quartet Cactus Cactus to hardbass musician Thirst, get ready for a multi-genre extravaganza on Nov 12.

All-inclusive Club Kiki is back again with another queer event – and the line-up is bigger and better than before. Joining Club Kiki’s resident drag queen DJ Akito Kunt in Tuff Club on Nov 13 are Australian DJ Jamie Hall and Pakistan-raised US-honed Amber.H. The former’s melange of house, funk and techno and the latter’s infectiously danceable and hypnotic bass lines are certainly set to get you moving and break out into dance.

Intervention is the new queer party on the block, organised by a collective of multi-disciplinary artists and community organisers. Its upcoming party on Nov 19 will be its very first but it is already a must-go in our books – its subversive selection of music is unlike any other party lined up this month. Cue genres like techno, reggaeton and Indonesian folk music (yes you heard that right) hitting the decks, as you dance the night away to sounds from around the world – all within popular party spot Projector X: Picturehouse.
