FEB 3: MISSFITS

Since its inception in June 2022, techno collective Modal have been throwing parties that go big on off-kilter beats and experimental tunes. Its first three parties, Mode01 and subsequently Mode02 and Mode03, broke pre-conceived notions of what techno is expected to be – with a repertoire that goes from deep, hypnotic synths to cutting-edge, raw industrial soundscapes. The next one at Iki By Ikigai at 20 Upper Circular Road is all about girl power, with an all-female lineup of DJs ready to dish out some hard-hitting bangers. Alongside local DJ Bella’s high-energy beats, there will be acts by rising international DJ Aya, who is known for her techno and psytrance parties in the US and Japan, as well as up-and-coming local DJ Vix, whose esoteric sets range from hard techno to UK funky.

Tickets are on sale from $27.29 here

This time, the iconic event takes place in one of the collective’s favourite hangouts Moonstone Bar at 103 Amoy Street – a perfect location for a wild night of vibing and dancing. The event is free of charge – so partygoers with a recession-proof budget can rejoice.

This time, expect the same diverse array of sounds from around the world – think South Indian folk genre kuthu; kuduro from the Angolan techno scene; Levantine Arab traditional dance music dabke; and dancehall – all within popular party spot Projector X: Picturehouse.

If you think the choice of Haw Par Villa for the inaugural edition of pop-up rave series Outer Bounce last August was pure manic, wait till you hear about its upcoming outing. This time round, the organisers are transporting revellers to Kranji  in the northwestern part of Singapore, which is best known for its car workshops and timber factories. Specifically, the action will take place on the rooftop carpark of the Carros Centre Automative Warehouse. The line-up of acclaimed eletronic deck masters compose of Aussie DJ-slash-producer Roza Terenzi who’s known for her off-kilter beats and brakes; Thai techno dynamo Sarayu; and Singapore’s own Bongomann of Ice Cream Sundays fame, who brings with him  transcendental set for the night.
