Although it’s only two years old, it’s already secured a spot in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants this year (it came in 17th). Boasting tranquil settings in a secluded corner of the Botanic Gardens, the restaurant is housed in a colonial building amidst lush greenery. Arguably one of the hottest dining venues to debut last year, Odette is named after chef-founder Julien Royer’s grandmother. The setting: A plush, inviting palette of creams and soft pinks. The menu: Six or eight courses are available, and every dish is prepared with meticulous detail. “Lemon quinoa and miso caramel, for instance, add crunch and contrast to seared foie gras’ fatty flavours,” says reviewer Jennifer Chen. #01-04 National Gallery Singapore, tel: 6385-0498

Fans of Peranakan food, rejoice: Violet Oon’s newest outpost at the National Gallery offers authentic local cuisine in a stylishly rendered setting. Pretty patterned tiles line the floor and the dark wood-panelled walls give it a genteel vibe. The food is no less outstanding: we recommend the dry laksa and fish head curry. #02-01 National Gallery Singapore, tel: 9834-9935

Colony at the Ritz-Carlton is a brightly-lit space filled with the most decadent spreads. Comprising seven buffet stations like The Grill & Rotisserie, The Wok and The Tandoor, popular dishes include the half dozen freshly shucked oysters and a rich lobster bisque laced with cognac, to hearty Asian fare like roast pork, roast duck and a lamb biryani. The biggest draw here? Free-flow Moet & Chandon vintage champagne, of course. The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore, 7 Raffles Avenue, tel: 6434-5288
The decor is as Oriental as it gets (wooden pillars and bronze sculptures are prevalent design features), and the food is nothing short of appetising. The menu comes with an extensive range of options, and the wine list is just as impressive. Highlights include the steamed cod fillet and the barbecue meat platter.
