If you’re a Gen Zer and done and dusted with school this semester, here are some bangers to circle down in your party calendar. But even if you’re not, there’s a party for everyone this month featuring everyone from regular DJs from the iconic Berlin techno temple Berghain to new formats by familiar collectives. Scroll on for a peep.
Since its inception in Feb this year, the all-new pop-up party called XXL by music and gastronomy event organiser Thugshop (the mastermind behind beloved techno landmark Headquarters) has already found fans within the scene. The electrifying party’s all about techno – dished out by some of the best local and international acts in the game. This time, with the help of event organiser Blackout Agency, Irish-born, Berlin-based Mano Le Tough graces the decks of MDLR at 62 Cecil Street with his assorted strains of house, techno, disco, new wave, and more. His electrifying sets have gained him a regular spot at party monoliths like Berghain’s Panorama Bar, the now-defunct Trouw, Robert Johnson, Warung and Output Brooklyn. He is supported by local act Maurice Simon, whose devotion to the deck and diversity of music genres draw parallels to Mano Le Tough’s methodology to music.

A new party by veteran part collective Eatmepoptart, Robot Resist! is an exploration of genres outside of their usual nostalgic fare – as seen and experienced in their monthly outfit The Kids Are Alright. Held within Phuture, expect a mix of electro, indie disco, indie remixes and electronica by the collective’s very own KiDG and Weelikeme – poised to give you a sweat-inducing wicked time on the dancefloor.
Tickets are available at $22 each here
This May, party organisers North East Social Club and Thugshop have joined hands to bring London-based DJ Shawn Cartier to Singapore, whose grimy and bold sounds full of cues to hyper online cultures has had him featured on premier radio stations like BBC Radio 1, Radio 6 and Rinse FM. The UK legend is joined by a line-up of equally crazy acts, including the likes of Hong Kong-based music collective Slimefest’s HRD.ept and local cult party collective Strange Weather’s Aalely and Yetpet.
Tickets are on sale at $42.99 each here
Intervention is a fairly new queer party on the block, organised by a collective of multi-disciplinary artists and community organisers. Since its inception in Nov last year, it has injected a unique perspective into the nightlife scene with its subversive selection of music, spanning genres like techno, reggaeton and Indonesian folk music (yes, you heard that right). This time, expect the same diverse array of sounds from around the world – from mahraganat (a.ka. Egyptian electro) to Thai beat, from Dominican dembow music to South African gqom – all within popular party spot Projector X: Picturehouse.
Tickets are on sale at $20 each here
The Strange Weather team has always sought to push the format of raves, exceeding its patrons’ expectations with every party. With their firm belief that other mediums should exist hand in hand with otherworldly music, you’ll never know what to expect stepping into one of the collective’s parties. Its all-new monthly outfit Kelab Malam is no different, with its focus on off-kilter beats and experimental tunes. Situated within iKi at 20 Upper Circular Road, the upcoming party on May 19 features the collective’s close friend Muto who hails from another veteran DJ group Ice Cream Sundays and will be playing alongside Strange Weather’s very own RTJ and Aalely.
Tickets can be purchased for $16.82 each here

Located within iKi at 20 Upper Circular Road, expect a journey that takes you through a plethora of genres ranging from ambient, post punk, EBM, IDM, electronica, disco, techno and beyond. Manfredas will be supported by local legends Muto from party collective Ice Cream Sundays and Daryl Knows from music label Darker Than Wax, whose sets are equally as diverse and tantalising.
