As 2017 draws to a close, we welcome the new year with new hotel openings around the world. Whether you’re an avid traveller or someone who loves exploring off-the-beaten-track cities, these stylish hotels are sure to pique your interest. #1: Como Echo Beach, Bali

Opening in February 2018, this resort is perched on the south coast of Bali. It comprises of 53 rooms and suites, 66 private apartments, as well as 12 penthouses with private pools. The intimate resort will also feature modern, sleek architecture and floor-to-ceiling windows facilitating stunning views. There will also be an in-house surfing school for those keen to catch the waves away from the Kuta crowds.

#2: Six Senses Fort Barwara, Rajasthan

While this may only be opening in the second half of 2018, it looks set to be one of the most beautiful and breathtaking hotels we have ever come across. The 48 suites will be housed in a restored 700-year old historical fort once owned by the Rajasthani royal family. It retains a gracious and regal ambience and the design will include the original fort structure, traditional gardens and water features. The original site of the women’s palace will be converted into a Six Senses Spa offering an extensive ayurveda, meditation and wellness programmes.

#3: Rosewood Luang Prabang, Laos

For the adventurous lot, this one-of-a-kind hotel immersed within a thick forested setting with a meandering river and waterfall is the perfect way to wind down after a long day out. With a total of 22 luxury tents and villas to choose from, each room is equipped with Laotian and French colonial furnishings.

#4: Shinta Mani Wild, Cambodia

Situated along the riverbank is Cambodia’s newest luxury tented accommodation. It comes with 16 spacious tents perched over flowing water. Definitely not for the light-hearted, guests will even be able to experience wildlife excursions, private boat expeditions and immerse themselves in everything nature has to offer.

#5: One&Only Gorilla’s Nest, Rwanda

Positioned at the foothills of the Virunga volcano range, guests will be treated to unparalleled views of Rwandan Hills and the Volcanoes National Park. The resort will be equipped with a spa and fitness center, and guests can also enjoy local African cuisine with ingredients sourced from the resort’s own vegetable garden. The undisputed star activity here will be gorilla tracking.

#6: Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing

Beijing’s newest luxurious hotel venture provides guests a rare opportunity to experience luxury living in traditional and authentic surroundings. Guests will be housed in a low-lying resort in a traditional hutong quarter close to Tiannanmen Square. There will also be a variety of dining venues within the courtyards including a Chinese restaurant, a traditional tea lounge, a cake shop and a roof terrace.

#7: The Chedi, Montenegro

The Chedi in Lustica Bay is located within Boka Bay’s main marina promenade offering stunning views of the Adriatic Sea. With a total of 110 rooms, the hotel’s design and architectural style reflect the natural beauty of its surroundings. So expect all-white furnishings, large windows to allow natural lighting to seep through and simple decor that will appeal to all minimalist lovers.

#8: Fasano Miami, Miami

The leading Portuguese travel and food operator is finally stepping foot into the USA with its first ever development in Miami. Expect contemporary furnishings in earthy tones, woven fabric chairs and creamy hues, which paints the entire space. The entire three-acre oceanfront complex will also include an iconic lagoon-style pool, a spa, fitness centre, and multiple fine-dining options.

#9: Mandarin Oriental Chile, Chile

With 310 guest rooms, including 23 suites with views over the city and the Andes, the hotel’s 25,000 square meters of grounds contain a large free-form outdoor pool set amongst landscaped gardens, five different restaurants and bars, as well as extensive banqueting and meeting space.
