This week, don’t miss out on Jentle Garden, the immersive pop-up at Ion Orchard’s atrium created by Blackpink’s Jennie and Korean eyewear label Gentle Monster to celebrate the launch of the new collection designed by the pop idol.
Over at Pasir Panjang Power Station, the buzzy sound artist and electronic producer Mervin Wong is launching his latest EP titled Akasha – which we hear it’s going to be quite an experience, with other multidisciplinary artists creating works to respond to his music. More details below.
We first featured the classically-trained sound artist and electronic producer Mervin Wong, known for crafting ethereal soundscapes, two years ago and he’s now back with his latest EP, titled Akasha.
Set to take place this weekend at Pasir Panjang Power Station, it’ll mark the debut of Akasha and is described to be a curated live performance featuring debut material from the record. The EP is inspired by “Akasha”, a concept which means “ether” or “space” in Indian cosmology, and Wong will be inviting audience members to have their own subjective experience as they make their own journey through it.
But don’t mistake it for the usual music experience; it’s set to be a multi-sensorial treat, where the artist’s aural compositions will be accompanied by wispy, modular garments as well as concrete installations, comprising sculptures, wall hangings, and tableware by the multidisciplinary artists Josh Tirados Suarez and Sarah Isabelle Tan respectively. With Pasir Panjang Power Station as the backdrop to all of this, it’ll likely be a very unusual and atmospheric experience – get your tickets here.
March 25, 8pm, at Pasir Panjang Power Station A, 27 Pasir Panjang Rd
Fans of Blackpink’s Jennie and Gentle Monster would do well to head down to Ion Orchard, where the eyewear label is currently staging a one-of-a-kind pop-up called Jentle Garden. Much in line with the Korean label’s reputation for creating elaborate, immersive installations, Jentle Garden re-creates a village scenery with moving train models to boot!
The Jentle Garden pop-up was created to celebrate the launch of the second instalment of the eyewear collaboration between the Korean superstar and Gentle Monster. This latest outing features the label’s signature reflective metal designs in three optical glasses, three sunglasses, and one special sunglasses embellished with crystal details on the frame (pictured).
Singapore is one of only five cities in the world to play host to this Jentle Garden pop-up so don’t miss out.

Photography arts space Deck is putting on Undescribed, its annual showcase for emerging artists who have recently graduated from local and overseas arts institutions. According to it, Undescribed is a term used in taxonomy to refer to new species that have not yet been named or categorised – an apt metaphor for the early stages for emerging talents, where discovery and experimentation are paramount.
For this seventh edition, five young artists – Ryan Lim Zi Yi, Rachel Cheng, Hong Shu-Ying (her works pictured above), Jomel and Sarah Lin – have been selected and mentored by visual artist Robert Zhao. The five reimagine photography as a malleable art form that transforms with and adapts to the spatial environment (read: the open grounds of the Deck space). Come get some sunshine and take in the various installations scattered around the space.
