Natural wine continues to be trending and in-demand here, with more and more wine bars focusing on biodynamic varieties farmed organically.
Back in 2017, the natural wine scene was just taking root in Singapore with pioneers such as RVLT, regarded as one of the first few local bars to specialise in minimal-intervention wines. In mid-2018, Le Bon Funk joined the party as another major player. Located at Club Street, the wine bar and kitchen features an extensive natural wine list showcasing unique terroirs and smaller producers.

Travelling wine bar Drunken Farmer now boasts two full-fledged, brick-and-mortar outposts – one at Joo Chiat (above) and the other at Stanley St.
Newer players include Drunken Farmer which started out as a nomadic natural wine consultancy – the brand set up permanent roots this year, as a natural wine bar and bistro at both its Stanley Street and Joo. Meanwhile, e-store That Wine is Mine features themed wine boxes meticulously selected to ensure quality.

Natural wine e-tailer That Wine Is Mine sells thematic box sets which helps make wine-buying fun and accessible for the uninitiated.
Ahead we toast some of the best spots to hunt for natural wines, whether you’re a newbie or experienced
drinker.
The lowdown: RVLT was founded by local sommeliers Alvin Gho and Ian Lim, with the aim of introducing wines that are all about sustainability. The gastrobar also prides itself on being unpretentious, with a casual, bar-like atmosphere where wine lovers can congregate and have a good time.
RVLT’s continually-rotating wine list features around 160 to 170 different labels, sourced from countries such as France, Spain and Germany. In celebration of its fourth anniversary, it also rolled out an eight-plate tasting menu titled ‘Four Ever RVLT’, with mains like lobster tail pasta and wagyu cured in shio koji.

Kjer has previously developed wine programmes at establishments like Kodbyens Fiskebar in Copenhagen and Le Chateaubriand in Paris. His ever-evolving wine list features over 200 labels from around the world, all imported in small quantities. Heading the kitchen is chef and restaurant owner Keirin Buck, who used to work as sous chef at Burnt Ends.

As for the pasta, expect fresh, handmade varieties including rigatoni, risone and tagliolini. If you’re in the mood for experimentation, check out Flights of Cicheti from Monday to Thursday evenings. These themed tastings feature three wines at $28, exploring different wine regions and grape varietals.

Wines here are curated by Drunken Farmer’s wine expert Eduardo Bayo, with the premises previously serving as a pop-up for Drunken Farmer as well. We recommend booking the monthly ‘5 Bites, 5 Wines’dinner, a five-course meal paired alongside five under-the-radar natural wines.

The lowdown: This e-store is all about making wine-buying fun and accessible for the uninitiated. It was co-founded by partners Raquel Takahashi, Hisamizu Takahashi, Amaris Chen and Yaw Bin Hua, all of whom share a passion for natural wine.
Rather than offering an endless selection of bottles, TWIM only has four curated box sets: Classic, Groovy, Glou Glou and a Festive Classic for the holiday season. Each is designed to fit one’s mood and taste preferences, with every bottle undergoing numerous rounds of tastings to ensure quality.
If you’re new to natural wine, we recommend the Glou Glou set with a light and refreshing line-up.
