From a young age, the late Monsieur Christian Dior had always wanted to pursue an education in the arts and even dreamt of enrolling into the prestigious Beaux-Arts fine arts school. Alas, his parents dashed such hopes due to their reasoning that no real profession could come out from pursuing studies in the creative discipline (sounds familiar?).
Nonetheless, the designer went on to build an early career as a director of an art gallery in Paris, where he forged friendships with a cadre of art greats such as Pablo Picasso, John Miro and Salvador Dali to name a few. Fast forward the clock to the present day and this passion for the arts continues to be something that is intimately forged at the house that Dior built.

Nick Knight developed a special technique for the series of ethereal images which interpreted the multi-faceted Gris Dior scent.
For its latest project, the maison has tapped one of the most prolific visual artists of our time: the photographer-slash-director Nick Knight. He was given carte blanche to reimagine the luxurious Gris Dior fragrance – an intense and elegant floral concoction which contains notes of jasmine, bergamot and ambery moss. Knight is the right man for the job: He constantly photographs the roses from his garden on his iPhone and manipulates them using A.I. into otherworldly images that possess the romantic verve of the Old Masters.
For the Gris Dior project, Knight has developed a collection of five Impressionist-style floral images that appear to be in fluid motion. To create the works, Knight employed a never-before-used technique which the artist is keeping as a secret for now. We are sure, Le Monsieur would have been thrilled at seeing these works of art. Ahead, a look at the images Knight has created for Dior.
