Cafe culture in Singapore has not relented, even if recollections of the PR fiasco surrounding the inaugural Cafe Fest in 2014 still linger. And while that event may not be back anytime soon, another festival coming up puts the focus squarely on something most cafe-hoppers love: a regular cup of joe.
Taking place from June 9 to 12, the first-ever Singapore Coffee Festival at the F1 Pit Building aims to gather caffeine lovers and still cater to those who prefer a healthy green juice or a coconut shake. Isabel Ong outlines five things you should know before heading down.
With established names like Chye Seng Huat Hardware, Common Man Coffee Roasters and Oriole Coffee in the line-up, expect some killer brews (and queues).

The festival grounds will house The Labs, dedicated spaces where you can glean knowledge from top baristas on the fine art of coffee brewing. But there’ll also be workshops and talks that are not on coffee: According to a Straits Times report, you can get tips on acing your Instagram photos from The Straits Times’ photographers and a join a discussion on the local restaurants deserving of a Michelin star by food critic Wong Ah Yoke.
The word isn’t out yet on the bands slated to perform, but we’re guessing that hot local acts like soulful crooner Joel Tan aka Gentle Bones (above) may make an appearance. And that’s not all: The organisers also plan to screen cult classic films on-site too.
Early bird standard tickets are now going for $13 (its regular price is $18), while advance VIP tickets are at $38 (U.P.: $43). Both grant you one-day access as well as to workshops, lab sessions and the music stage, but the VIP ones will give you fast-track entry and the chance to enter its VIP lounge with complimentary cocktails and canapes.
