Top 5 Airbnb Places To Stay At In Bangkok

Forgo your run-of-the-mill hotel room for chic Airbnb spots like an arty designer loft or a spacious penthouse with spectacular views.

by ISABEL ONG  /   November 27, 2015

For many of us, a trip to the Land of Smiles is akin to an annual (or even monthly) pilgrimage. On your next trip, forgo your run-of-the-mill hotel room for an arty designer loft or a spacious penthouse with spectacular views. Isabel Ong recommends these chic Airbnb stays:

Top 5 Airbnb Places To Stay At In Bangkok
#1: A bright & cosy artist's studio in Sathorn Road
image

This chic New York-esque apartment has all the right touches any design buff will appreciate: A calfskin rug; old trunks doubling up as bedside dressers; and funky floor lamps & rattan chairs. Bonus: the large windows and balcony that let maximum natural light in, a boon for any serious Instagrammer/photographer. Other plus-es: Wireless internet is available, and it’s conveniently located 5 minutes away from the Sala Daeng BTS station or Lumpini MRT. S$109/night

#2: An industrial chic loft in Silom
image

The entire apartment is kitted out with concrete, which makes the colourful artworks on the walls, the bright red bookcase and the quirky Astroboy figurine in the living room the standout attractions. If you’re into clean, pared-down spaces (like the nomadic-inspired separates here), this is for you. S$114/night

#3: A chic penthouse near the Chao Phraya river
image

It’s the view in this three-bedroom space that’s a winner. Situated on the 30th and 31st floors of a new high-rise condominium building, it has a balcony and a roof garden that affords you a bird’s eye view of the city. The plush amenities available: a swimming pool and a shopping mall at the ground floor. S$254/night

#4: An eclectic loft in Silom
image

The quirky little twists in this two-bedroom loft gives this space plenty of character. Cases in point: a neon lamp spelling out the words “Wanna fight?”, painted Chinese lanterns doubling up as lights, and an easel stand used to display art and other knick-knacks. S$114/night

#5: A quirky suite in the Klong Toey neighbourhood
image

The look and feel: That of a boutique hotel. The one-of-a-kind design: A wall-to-wall mural of wooden flooring (there’s even a tiny drawing of a lizard in a corner for added authenticity) and a billowing canopy over the bed. In our books, this one-bedroom space wins top marks for originality. S$100/night
