This week, don’t miss out on ArtScience Museum’s new virtual reality blockbuster show, Beyond Earth, where you’ll get the chance to be in the shoes of the legendary astronauts who landed on the moon. Over at Henderson Road, the annual designer sale Pasar Glamour is back with plenty of designer goods from top luxury houses – with all proceeds going to charity. More details below.
Miss Omicron got you feeling down? Head over to ArtScience Museum’s new virtual reality (VR) gallery for a heady trip out of this world – the museum’s new exhibition Beyond Earth promises to be quite the experience.
As the title suggests, the exhibition focuses on space exploration: the VR segment (Spacewalkers) presents two artworks that place the audience in the shoes of astronauts during the famed Apollo missions and depict the future of space travel to Mars.
Astronomy enthusiasts will appreciate stunning lunar panoramas reconstructed from images taken during the Apollo 17 mission (the final moon-landing trip by NASA in 1972 – also the last time humans set foot on the moon), as well as experiencing the rare view from the literal perspective of an astronaut. The two works are VR films that incorporate NASA recordings and data and made their debut at the 2020 Venice Biennale, before arriving here.
Alongside these VR works, the museum will also be screening a slate of both family-friendly films and arthouse pieces that complement this exhibition. The former includes animated classics like Wallace and Gromit: A Grand Day Out (1989) and will take up the December holiday period, while the artworks (which include critically-acclaimed films like Gagarine) will run in January and February.

Interactive virtual landscapes are the thing to explore now and the latest to check out is Regal F.C., the new digital clubhouse by Scotch whisky purveyor Chivas.
Riffing off the notion that where football goes, culture follows, Regal F.C. resides in a 3D game-like clubhouse that features multiple rooms to explore Chivas expressions and creative projects. Well, the brand is not entirely wrong – the sport and its star players do become cultural icons that intersect with other creative fields, such as gaming, fashion, music and art.
Regal F.C. bills itself as “a social club created to elevate global football culture on and off the pitch”. Hence, that’s why they’ve created their first creative council – the Regal F.C. Fam – that’s represented by five names from Singapore’s creative scene: Dharni (beatboxer), Josiah Chua (fashion creative), Jun Tan (former footballer and founder of Junpiter Futbol), See Min Ng (body art artist) and YK (street photographer).
The five creatives have created custom works for Chivas, but there’s more to the clubhouse as well. There’s a virtual bar where you can shop exceptional blends by Chivas or up your own home-bar game with cocktail recipes, and online games where cash prizes go up to a sweet 40 grand.
Check out the virtual clubhouse here.
