You know the drill: New Year, New You. We’ve done the trend research (you’re welcome) and leg work for all the must-haves and game-changing pieces you need to add to your wardrobe in 2016 (you’re welcome again). By Imran Jalal.
It’s the breakout frock of the season and will instantly give you that Elvira Hancock sass. You can’t go wrong with a Calvin Klein piece, or something a little off-kilter like this Alice McCall number.
It has hipster-chic cred (the ’50s was its heyday); the tight weave of the mesh means it’s tougher than regular metal bracelets; and it looks more like a jewellery piece than a sporty steel watch. The latter also means it won’t look out of place at a dinner. Our pick is the elegant and supple Limelight Milanese from Piaget.

Revive Studio 54 glamour with heavily decorated platforms. Saint Laurent’s ones make us want to boogie.
Grunge is big next season, so bring out those light-washed and ripped denim. Our go-to guys for awesome jeans: Dutch label Scotch & Soda.
Homespun chic gets upgraded in luxe leathers and materials. We dig Stuart Vever’s Picasso-like effect on this Coach mini skirt.
Whatever wonders a trench coat can do to your look, the bathrobe-inspired coat, such as this one from Bimba Y Lola, can do the same. The bonus: they’re lightweight and perfect for our local climes.
Because nothing makes you stand out more than large poufy details. Rosie Assoulin’s piece will bring out your inner Flamenco babe.
