Yes, Airport Style’s A Thing — And Here’s How To Ace It

by SEAN THAM  /   December 14, 2018

With Instagram being readily available at our fingertips, it’s a lexicon of style at your disposal 24/7. But doesn’t mean someone’s getting double tapped means that their style M.O. is worth gleaning. Here, we sift through the lot to bring you five personalities who have their style game down pat — even when they’re jetting off at the airport.

Yes, Airport Style's A Thing — And Here's How To Ace It
#1: Eva Chen — athleisure
image

As Eva Chen asserts, athleisure is definitely not dying down anytime soon. By our books, it’s way to comfortable to let fizzle out. Instead of sticking to safer colours for this trend like the usual black and blue, turn it up a notch by sporting brighter hues. Chen is not afraid of donning shades of red in her outfit as seen in her combi of a pink sweatshirt, red track pants and a red bag. Slip into a pair of comfortable, but bold, flats for longer journeys. Messy hairdo at your discretion.

#2: Aimee Song — smart casual
image

If you’re going to hit the ground running after landing — whether it’s a vacation or a work trip — Song’s style here is a fine example. A casual blazer elevates her comfy outfit of a T-shirt and jeans. You can go sans jacket in the plane.

#3: Tina Leung — all dressed up but grunge
image

Nothing says try-hard or inexperienced flyer like an individual dressed to the nines for the airport. For those who still want to get decked out, take a leaf from Tina Leung who tempers her pencil skirt with a badass leather jacket. Finish the look off with a pair of sneakers — never heels. Cap, optional.

#4: Irene Kim — one coat to say it all
image

If you’re jetting in winter, the coat is the most important garment in your ensemble; when buttoned, your clothing under is obscured. Think like Irene Kim and opt for a quick fix of a statement coat when flying. This way, you can still be comfortable in-flight by dressing down with a white long-sleeve tee and a pair of jeans.

#5: Yoyo Cao — sweater weather

C’mon, we all know sweaters are a staple in crisp weather, but it’s your choice of knit that matters. Take style cues from Yoyo Cao and forgo the plain and boring ones for a quirky print and some olour. Pair with wide-leg denim for that extra dose of comfort onboard.
